"....But in where I am in my lane, I am the greatest...." She wouldn't be wrong. The depth and richness of her voice is so unique - it's like there's a tactile sense to it - you actually feel it in and against your body. It envelopes you like a really expensive cashmere blanket, that drapes around you. And then with she reaches for her classically trained jazz and r&b bona fides to add color - and her signature - to the melody? There really is no other. Been mesmerized by her for decades; listening to her do her thing alone, or making real art with other all time greats from Musiq and Rashaan to Albright and Whalum. Just an incredible talent; a living treasure.

And neither one of them mention the brother who started it all, Larry Graham, no Louis Johnson, no Meshell Ndegeocello, hell I'll even throw in Sir Paul McCartney who was my first influencer when my mother took me a little black kid from the of L.A. to see the movie, A Hard Day's Night Released August 12, 1964 and on my next birthday I got a Beatles Birthday cake with the whole bobblehead band.
