I went 3-2 with solid medium sized wins, doubling my opponents score in all 3, but not hitting that 20VP mark, 18vps was my highest. The 2 losses were 0-20 losses. Once that army crumbles, it just explodes into nothing.

Absolutely you could. Gwahir 4 greats and 4 fledings. I mentioned this to sam in the video and he had a brilliant response to it. Basically boiling down to you get more value outa having 7 great eagles over 4 with 4 fledings. I highly recommend finding what same had to say about it -Sean

I played a Rivendell Knights list at my last Tournament and I promise you it will be very hard to get 18 cav models into combat + your regular dudes. Maybe 6 are enough at this points level.

I can see the argument for another caster, but I do think a Barrow Wight is still better in almost every list. Wither is very cute, but comparing it to Paralyse is still a bad time. And that’s not discussing the Terror bubble, which remains as strong as ever. And in defence of the Captain, Gully is always super keen on other models calling Moves for him, so the extra Might is pretty clutch. Plus March into shooting spam, which is obviously great. I could definitely see him being dropped for a caster though, it’s a real tradeoff

Some people think that even with all the nerfs the Witch-King is still too strong. Nevermind that Legolas can, if only a bit lucky, kill any wraith that he sees during shooting. Honestly, it does not seem game breaking to me, AND it makes sense that riding an Eagle or Fellbeast would give more of a bonus than a standard horse in terms of attacks.

@HallofCats-h3k Exactly! And you wouldn't even get the cav bonus against other cav models, so then you only get the +1 attack for Monsterous Charge.

I think the main counter argument is that the changes to Monstrous Charge were primarily about simplifying it, and it seems very plausible that no one at GW registered that the simplification interacted with the cavalry rules in this way. Plus, it seems very arbitrary. Why does a Great Eagle get +1A on the charge, but when Radagast is perched somewhere up there it gets +2A? It’s not like he’s fighting in any real way, so why is it a different situation? And why does a Fell Beast get twice as much benefit from charging as Beorn, or Gulavhar, or Smaug? And if you assume it was an intentional buff as part of the general buffs to monsters, why do you think GW were aiming to buff Radagast on Eagle and Fell Beasts specifically and no other profiles? Why single out just those two, and buff them with a general rule change rather than just buffing their profiles? And if they did intend to, why not have a rider in Monstrous Charge stating that it stacks? The argument that all of those weird and arbitrary decisions were intentionally made by GW feels very weak to me. On the other hand, the argument that they didn’t realise the reworded Monstrous Charge (which is really very different to last edition in lots of ways) would stack for those two profiles specifically feels very plausible. As such, while the RAW is totally clear, I think the RAI is also about as clear as it can ever be

@@sharbie9540 It does not really seem to be arbitrary. We can all agree that an Eagle or Fell Beast would and should give more of a bonus than a standard horse. The double bonus comes from being two models, the rider is assumed to do something and contribute some way. It makes sense to me, and actually might make WoW useful, sometimes. It does not break the game to allow it, as we have seen so far. I am be curious if the first FAQ comes out, does not mention it, what will the TOs that have been ruling otherwise do.

Thing is your relying on big heroes to compensate, people go for lego and elessar, but. I think leggy is a mistake, he gives tools but is only 2 attacks in combat 3 with banner , not a powerhouse in close combat, as the list will also not have any dominant shooting, the chance of getting overpowered is there, i prefer eomer and aragorn mounted, to do a big hero hammer strategy, you can then possible take out 8 models a turn with those 2 , also they are both difficult to dehorse , and elessar magic ressistance and free resolves give good chance of being able to do what you want to do

And if I understand it correctly only in his own combat with a friendly model.

@@fabid6602 It says he may take a shot against a single model engaged in combat with a friendly model (including himself). So it doesn't have to be his combat, it can be any combat within his range, still with Line of Sight. He can't just shoot anything, disregarding any in the ways, as he could in the previous edition. He now can only disregard in the ways if the model is engaged in combat.

Elven blades do not auto-win combats, they only affect the tie roll-off and make you more likely to win. In this case however, the Troll Chieftain is Fight 8 compared to Elessar's 7.

From a technical perspective, you are correct. However, I suspect in a bat rep where they explicitly say they are "trying to capture some cool thematic moments" and where there is a Sam & Frodo mini-game going on, it is possible they are being a bit lenient with the rules.

Interesting! My current 850 Atop the Walls I’ve been testing just had the 1 trebuchet, but added a captain, another warband and additional banner for 40ish models. What have your thoughts been on the usefulness of the trebuchets? Feel like I’m taking them more to ensure my opponents don’t sit back and shoot rather than for their damage output

@MtnGoatGaming It answers Trolls and Eagles mostly. They are also big distraction Carnifex's that my opponents fixate on while the rest of my army does work. I also find when I run 1 it doesn't do enough for it's points, but with 2 it feels right. They also threaten Mumaks which are heavily played in my meta.

Yeah it was a tough list to build man I think if you want to maximise the heroic combat, play it all mounted

It depends on how risky you feel like being with Eomer. Sure he is no slouch and can take a few whacks, but having Legolas as your general gives you that freedom to play Eomer with a lot more risk. Both as generals are more than valid, Just comes down to, how you are wanting to play the army. -Sean

Yeah my dude Dale with major access to plus one to wound and on top of that their opponent has to make it to them under crazy fire. Odds are combats gonna swing Dale's way. Sadly lost access to those D6 knights tho 😭 -Sean
