I started many years ago working for a friend who was running an online music website from here in australia , I’d go to red carpets for music awards , festivals, clubs … built up great experience, was great fun, never had to pay to go anywhere (apart from with my time) and was helping a mate. From that I was picked up by street press magazine , and then promoters, venues etc. I’d recommend when starting out, help a community organisation, or paper that maybe can’t afford to pay a photographer regularly, (my friend certainly couldn’t) then you can help them , you get experience and you don’t risk stepping on an existing paid photographers turf.

Thanks for the tips, did you turn down the input volume on the camera aswell as the -10db on the mic?
@TARIQABDELPHOTO3 күн бұрын
Yes! Input volume was at the very lowest if I remember correctly That bass was quite literally redlining the speakers

do you think its better than the kit lens/worth the (used) mark up of around 250$?
@TARIQABDELPHOTO14 күн бұрын
Depends on what you plan on shooting friend! If you’re just getting started and don’t really know what you’re doing, kit lens should be fine If you’re leveling up, have clients, ready to upgrade, it’s a great lens and I’ve had a great experience with the Zeiss 24-70 F4

I wanna touch on the 180 degree shutter angle. In most cases, this is the perfect guideline, but there are times to break it. When shooting slomo, a 90 degree shutter angle is great because we don't necessarily need motion blur on slomo. Another instance is if you're dealing with a technical or impressive musician solo. Using 24fps and a 90 degree shutter angle can help bring a ton of clarity to the musical performance. This is INSANELY specific though. I film a lot of tech death bands, where the audience wants to focus on what's being played, so a 90 degree shutter angle works really well. It also can add a perception of more excitement, similar to handheld action scenes in war movies. The tradeoff is your light level. Tech death bands play in small venues with little light, so using 1/96 can cause it to be too low light causing you to crank your ISO. Now if you're shooting one of the flagship mirrorless cameras, this is less of an issue because it handles high ISO great, and then davinci resolve's Noise reduction is fantastic.

Dude thank you SO MUCH for explaining this!!! I’m sure a lot of people who watch this video aren’t focused on the electronic scene, so this gives a nice different perspective on how adjusting your shutter speed for video works for different genres and types of shows.

@ oh, absolutely. I loved your advice, but we all have to niche down a little bit, and some of us are in the nichest of niches, so I like throwing out more for that.

I just turn my long form content into shorts and use descript to do it. It's very very quick, usually on an 8 minute video I can find at least 6-8 standalone shorts and probably create all of them and upload them in 20 minutes or so (with the dynamic subtitles) It's a very easy way to get views but they don't convert to many clients. 90% of my clients i'd say come from long form 10% shorts - if they took a long time for me to make I wouldn't bother, but as they are so easy to do they make sense. But yeah, youtubes tough no matter what you do!
