Thanks for the great video. I have a question, is there a way to figure out which images you have sent, so that when downloading the card, these images have a mark or something? and then you can keep the RAWs, and ditch the rest. I know you can rate them, but I am looking for a different way, as to rate I need both hands, and two actions. Thanks again

Thanks for this tutorial, Mark. You mentioned high speed sync for cases where a very fast shutter speed is needed. I wonder how high speed sync compares to the use of a neutral filter attached to your lens to cut some of the light and allow for a "normal" sync speed of the flash. Thank you!
@ThePhotographerAcademy6 күн бұрын
Yes as long as you shutter speed is less than say 200 you will be able to use normal synch.

Has anyone noticed that the custom URL (for the gallery) is no longer changing even if you give it a custom name? It used to work - not sure when it stopped. Does anyone know anything about what seems to be a glitch?

Thanks again Mark. A material question. Do you feel like some are better than others? Light sheet rather than heavy ( like a duvet cover). Also, material… cotton, satin….. thanks.
@ThePhotographerAcademy7 күн бұрын
It all depends on what your end result needs to be. Duvet cover as the base, but then a white cotton sheet or silk material depending on budget.

Great poses. Thanks. The chair seems like a great place to start. Was surprised how distracting on found her underwear marks in the first images. I’ll have to remember to have them come in loose fitting / no undergarments.

When working on location we always carry baby wipes and a towel, but still we usually have to clean up a little bit

I find NO consensus on whether the camera should be in M mode when using TTL or an Auto mode. I have had nothing but bizarre unworkable results with my flashgun in TTL when experimenting in an Auto mode and wonder if M is the best bet, setting the exposure values based on how I want to light the background, then letting TTL illuminate the subject correctly based on flash power settings (steps up or down). Another item of confusion - my flashgun has flash power settings, but so does my camera. Which do I use? Does one override the other? Thanks!
@ThePhotographerAcademy20 күн бұрын
Hi Scott, most of the time my camera is in Manual mode & if the flash is on the camera hotshoe the flash is set to ttl. When the flash is off camera hot shoe and being used through a softbox the flash is set in manual mode. But if it has grids on it the flash might either be set on ttl if it’s moving its distance to subject or in manual if it’s in a fixed position. I hope that helps

But what Mode do you set the camera too for flash pics?

Mark... I am not a pro, but maybe one day.... but .... I totally agree with you. I've seen professional, paid photographers who don't zoom in, leaving acres of dead space, or using the camera horizontally for what should have been a vertical aspect portrait.... no attention to details, AND they proudly post this crap on social media! These are PROS! How do they keep getting work????

Think of a RAW file as the ingredients for a cake and a TIFF is the fully mixed cake after its baked!

Mark: I am moving up to the Leica SL 3 ; from my SONY , I have had trouble with the rear screens on all of my SONY camera's , and the Leica color science is suppose to be better. I DO want to do Portraiture and use the special soft boxes etc. Hope my choice is a good one. Oh and I watch all of your videos Mark : Chris

It's a terrific (and complex) question with an answer to match. My photography journey has started relatively late in life, and while I think I'm making great progress, there is an enormous amount of pressure due to the ticking life-clock pounding in my soul. I don't know if I have 10 years to become successful, hence the increased sense of urgency. But you've give some well-balanced insights, nonetheless. Thanks so much!
@ThePhotographerAcademyАй бұрын
What does success look like to you? I suppose that’s what I should have ended up saying. No matter what keep the passion and the fun in photography. Good luck, and try and keep balance.
