All talk about cosmetics. Nothing regarding functionality or pitfalls to be aware of. Thanks, Mr. Blackwell, for a pretty useless review

This video is 10 years old. Longines still sells this watch, it;s a modern classic. Got mine six months ago, 40 mm, 4k retail now. Wore it everyday since except in the water. Longines now ships this with the L 687.5 movement which is an upgraded valjoux 7751. 66 hours of powerreserve, silicon balancespring. Mine runs 2 seconds fast a day out of the box. Still very much in love

Thanks for a nice review. I like tuna series and was looking to get an automatic version. After reading up on those, besides being expensive, once you have an issue, some say you'll need to send to Japan for service, so I decided on this one with quartz movement. Five year battery replacement is not bad, accuracy and reliability is what's important. Very happy with a purchase.

I have an oris big crown, I really like it, but I don't really get the exhibition caseback when they don't decorate the movement. At first I thought it was really cool because it was my first mechanical movement and I could see what's happening but now I have fancier watches, and it's a bit boring to look at a movement with absolutely no cotes de geneve or perlage, blued screws etc.they may as well have done a closed caseback. It was a bit disappointing at 1:44 to see that their propilot at double the price also was undecorated, but maybe the newer one is, this video is 8 years old

Hope Longines will scrap the date, reissue it with a titanium sand blasted dark grey case instead of shiny brushed case and a black nylon strap for an overall lightweight watch, I'm getting it for sure...

You have the most succinct yet articulate takes on these watches. There are no pretensions to urbanity-just well-expressed takes and really good shots of the timepieces. You should have more subscribers. Thanks.

Few realize how great Hamilton once were. 130 years old, all American, time masters for the railroad, US maritime, aviation, air mail, since WW1, golden age Hollywood movie stars watch of the 1930s. Electric watch makers even before Bulovas famous Accutron. Partnered Swiss watchmaking legends - Breitling, and Heuer to create worlds first mass produced automatic chronograph in 1969 whilst the eyes of the world were transfixed by Omegas run-of-the mill mechanical Speedmaster on Apollo 11 astronauts wrists. In the 70s they created the famous Pulsar LED watch before selling their electronic watch division to Seiko during the Quartz crisis. The mechanical watch division was sold to Swiss Buren watch company. Ironically under the Swiss the mechanical watch division of this famous company became as cheap as chips and looked it, without the innovative drive, finish and mystique of the early US watches. Maybe they’re about to turn a corner, as they are killing it with some of their most recent mechanical models which look like outstanding value for money.

My least expensive GS but my favorite. Simple design w useful features. Don't really need a light but when I do my other Gs do have one. Very easy to change CT with a very weak but audible alarm. Best of all it was 200 bucks used in great shape.

anti-vintage? not really... the planet ocean is the direct descendant of the Omega Seamaster 165.024 of the 1960s. Very similar case design and shape of the hour markers. It is a contemporary watch, but the concept and DNA is unmistakably 1960s! Beauuutiful!

As a Pilot, I want an Aviation watch that shows two time zones at the same time. Lets say one analog and one digital, with a third on standby that you can swap. I use UTC all day long at work, thats the analog. The the time where I am in the world, so I dont miss happy hour. Then Local time at Home, so I know if I can call my wife and not wake her up. Lastly, have the date with the day of the week. I know sounds silly, but when you are traveling to Delhi, Tokyo, London and home in a month, the day of the week gets lost. Especially when its a different day at home then where you are. Lastly a timer that vibrates the watch, that would be icing on the cake. That would be the ultimate pilots watch. I have a Fossil watch my sister bought me years ago, it does all that, minus the timer. It's hard to beat. But I'd love to see someone make a really good, modern time piece for pilot's again...

I have a Jazzmaster with ETA 2892, which is incredibly accurate, and yesterday I bought a Khaki Field Aviation automatic with H30 and an 80-hour power reserve with a blue dial. Hamilton watches offer a lot for their price, which justifies their purchase.

Maybe a little bit too expensive for a watch that does not know what it is, a diver style racing watch with just 50 meters of WR. Still, I will buy one tomorrow for my birthday (what an excuse). After selling all my great value for money Orients which I already miss very much I am purchasing this and few months ago Seiko Alpinist, both much more expensive than they should be. I suppose I am an idiot, but those tho watches are beautiful, what can I do.

This movement despite the claims is not based on the 5100. ETA recognized the stupidity of destroying equipment (the equipment to produce the 5100 needed upgraded and with loss to Japanese discontinued the movement). Otherwise SINN, Tutima and others would have used the new ETA movement. Somebody at ETA recogized if they copied the format of the 5100 and said this is a replacement then sales might continue. The ETA movement is junk and cheap as heck. The info on the web is just plain wrong. Otherwise lets just replace our worn out parts (if any) from the 5100 with this junk ETA movement. The 5100 was a masterpiece if one is looking for the toughest chronograph ever built- but just fugly if you want a pretty thing to look at. Its the A10 Warthog. You just couldn't kill it. But building a new plane that looks like a plane is not a A10. Who ever started the claim of the ETA movement being based on a 5100 should come forward. Same nonsense happened with the Labrador retriever. The history on that dog breed is wrong as well. Dog started as an upland hunter....not a water fowler.

Had mine and daily wore it for the past 5 years. Still no scratches and the most reliable I've had to date. It's also pretty unique since everyone else had apple and smart watches. Love making fun of people at work having to take their watch off and charge on a computer.

Still wear mine weekly and sometimes daily. I’ve had it over ten years and is intrinsically accurate. About +1 in 6 months without any connection to Atomic Clock. Still looks brand new.
