Thanks for watching, head unit reviews are something we love doing, it's exciting even for us to see the new models come out. If you are looking for an inexpensive option, and considering the Nakamichi, have a look at the Blaupunkt ORLANDO750 (we have a video on it), it has a volume knob and touchscreen response is great.

The question of quality, not always quantity comes up. Yes for the money there are options out there with WAY more functionality, but will those options work without quirks, or even work at all after 1 year, is the question. What you get from name brand receivers, is no quirks, and reliability for years.

I wish Compustar have us the option to activate / deactivate certain alarm sensors from the remote or phone app. For instance if parking at home in the garage, you can just arm a certain sensor, butnif parking at a busy/sketchy area, be able to arm more sensors. That would be really cool!
@LockdownSecurity
@LockdownSecurity 10 күн бұрын
Technically, this is possible using AUX outputs, *but* you (the user) would need to know which AUX output is turning on or off which sensor. This is NOT a native feature though, where there are actual indications given as to which sensor is turned on or off, it would be a custom set up done using the Compustar AUX outputs, of which there can be up to 8 aux outs available (default system availability being Aux 1 and Aux 2)

Viper / DIrected (specifically their parent company VOXX) is planning a revamp of the entire Viper line, which I believe will be including new key fobs. No idea on time frame for this though, looks to be 4th quarter of 2024 at the earliest, and will more than likely be early 2025

Would either of the Viper models be considered a passive system whereby if you turn off, exit, and lock the vehicle, it automatically becomes 'armed' ? Also since you explained how the Viper model tends to be more of a 'bundle,' am I correct in assuming if I want the 2-way remote I have to get the model that gets the remote start installed as well? Would one of the Viper-parent-company smartphone apps support the 3105V too and what exactly can be done through the app?
@LockdownSecurity
@LockdownSecurity 10 күн бұрын
You can configure either brand (Compustar or Viper) to passively arm, and also passively arm + lock (riskier to set as you could lock yourself out), thereby creating an auto arming setup. As for Viper, yes, if you buy one of the analogue systems, you must buy the version that comes with the 2-way LCD, they are not upgradeable per se (like Compustar can be). Now, for DS4 from Directed/Viper, these can be "upgraded" using a 2-way key fob kit, but the analogue systems (as I show in he video) require you to buy them equipped, with the key fob of your choice (not easily upgradeable). Viper 3105V is NOT compatible with SmartStart (Directed's smartphone system).

The digital tilt sensors, set themselves up to whatever angle there are at when the system arms, meaning if the vehicle is on an incline or decline when parked and armed, the sensor will detect variances (tilt change) from whatever angle they were armed at. As the other commenters mentioned, while driving the sensors will not be active.

1:40 If the Keetec Rider is designed specifically for push-to-start model vehicles, is it compatible for a SUV that uses a physical key? I got a quote from you guys for a Viper 3105V but they also recommended the Keetec Rider to me. They said they'd follow-up with a Compustar quote by email too. Now doing research like this video after getting home I think the Keetec Rider is actually not suited for my prospective vehicle? Also was advised by your salesman since my SUV is early 2010s with a physical key, I don't have to worry about the CANBUS attack (so no CANBUS shield needed) and not to worry about a OBD port lock because those are for newer vehicles? Is that correct?
@LockdownSecurity
@LockdownSecurity 13 күн бұрын
The KEETEC Rider can be adapted to work on any vehicle, but out of the box it is designed to be used on push to start vehicles as, the Rider device itself is a low current relay essentially, and push to start vehicle circuits, specifically the push to start button, are low current. Key start vehicles, like yours, generally (majority) will have high current circuits related to starting of the vehicle. That doesn't mean the Rider will not work on a key start vehicle, it just means more labour and adaptation to work. Key start vehicles, specifically those with immobilizer keys are more secure than push to start vehicles, it's the physical key that makes the difference, along with immobilizer chip, today's thieves are not targetting these, they are simply too much work to steal (compared to push to start vehicles).
@LockdownSecurity
@LockdownSecurity 13 күн бұрын
OBD port blocking on a key start vehicle, not of huge value, as they aren't stealing key start vehicles for the most part, and due to this, not exploiting the OBD port to program a fake push to start fob. CAN-BUS attack is also not of concern, as they are not doing this to key start vehicles either. Best bet for a key start vehicle, a solid alarm or alarm with remote start, from a name brand like Compustar or Viper. The choice between alarm only or alarm + remote start comes down to your need for convenience of remote start, OR does the vehicle have remote start. I will make a KZbin video on this. The choice between Compustar or Viper, and why to choose one of these two brands, is a personal one (which brand do you prefer) BUT there are technical reasons as well. I will make a KZbin video on this.

@@LockdownSecurity 100%. Example would be if the third party immobilizer doesn’t have a car jacking mode. The immobilizer being one which already requires a pin to enable the owner to drive the car. @@CybersecProf Exactly, ALL the pin-code based anti theft solutions, whether from Author Alarm IGLA, Autowatch GHOSTII, Starline E9, their anti hi-jack features are from bad to great (IGLA is the worst, E9 is the best).
