same issue on my 07 Xterra - I think the valve cover leaked oil into the exhaust and ruined the upstream oxygen sensors and clogged the upstream catalytic converters. I thought it might be a fuel delivery issue but when I removed both upstream O2 sensors, it started, idled, and ran fine (nothwithstanding the exhaust noise and smoke coming through the O2 sensor holes in the cats.

I'm now on my second Xterra. My first one got the dreaded clogged cats around 225k miles. I hollowed them out and drove it another 30k miles until the engine decided to blow. Now I have another x with 160k miles. The cats clogged a couple days ago 2 miles away from my destination. I had it towed back home and plan on gutting those bastards tomorrow. Seems to be a common problem. Sure wish I knew what was causing it.

What about brakes and struts from a Titan?
@kyakukid12 ай бұрын
I see the Zaku II shirt you got there. There are a ton of forums out there if you look hard enough on the internet. If you upgrade from the VQ40 to the VK56, you gain over 100 torque. Harrop makes a supercharger that is safe for a stock VK56 in addition to being authorized for use for all 50 states. The Armada and Titan use the same chassis frame for the Xterra and Frontier if it's second gen. The only difference is that the Armada has rear individual suspension.

Does the frontier trans bolt to the titan motor? I've been told it does. I have the 4.0 v6 frontier, and it's a 6 speed. Year is 2015, and I wanna put a titan engine in after my v6 dies and still keep the manual trans and 4x4. Any insight would be appreciated

For instance my drives from ND down to the southern plains to chase storms (not including chase days because that is a lot of idling and hard accleration) is about 12.8 mpg at 65-70. That is approx what Im getting up here on the highway as well.

Hey, quick question. Where can I find a locking rear differential for a reasonable price. I was given a rebuilt R-180 with the 3.36 gear ratio but can’t find a decent price on the locking rear differential. I know I could change out the ring & pinion. But would rear like to have the locker
@basscannon7626 ай бұрын
7:47 to run the stock differential you use infinity QX80 axles no custom axles needed
@andys_log2 ай бұрын
I would want the added strength of a larger differential. And they are super cheap you can get them for 100-200$ so it’s a no brainer. Your option works well too but when stronger is just as cheap why not!

So I really want t to do this to my 2016 frontier desert runner. One question is that I also want to put leveling spacers on to give me a 2” additional lift. Is that possible? I’d like a 6” suspension lift, with the 4” Titan swap. Could I get longer radflow shocks that would help me achieve this?
@andys_log8 ай бұрын
What I was talking about here is a budget travel. You need to specify “hack job” in your searching criteria and I bet you can better find the answer you are looking for
@dahatchery8 ай бұрын

@andys_log8 ай бұрын
I think you can do Spindles on a 2wd, then with a titan suspension swap that will allow you to run a larger coilover. You’ll have to speak to someone that’s done that specific setup to find out the sizing
@marco40816 ай бұрын
@@dahatcheryi think you need a drop bracket for that, anything past 3 inch lift and the cv could bind at full droop. I have a 6 inch rc lift but im pulling it off and going for 2.5 inch titan swap.
@dahatchery6 ай бұрын
@@marco4081 my truck isn’t 4wd. I know that all I would need is CST 4” lift spindles and because of that perhaps run the Titan upper control arms and a 2” spacer lift. That should give a good 6” total lift, install the Titan lowers control arms when I’m ready for an additional 3-4” lift for a nice prerunner look .

Andy, I did a VK56 swap on my 2wd 05 Pathfinder and the gas mileage improved quite a bit. With the 2wd R51 having a 3.133 rear axle ratio, the VK purrs at barely 3K rpm at 100 mph. I seriously get about 26 mpg on the highway, whereas the VQ40 could manage about 23 mpg if I kept it under 70 mph. I don't expect that anyone doing the VK swap on a 4wd will share my experience with gas mileage.
@kyakukid12 ай бұрын
@gsbadd8240 It will either stay the same or improve depending on the gearing. However, the VK56 swap improves the mileage due to the power to weight ratio alone.

So with this budget T-swap I could use stock frontier coilovers with a 2-2.5 in spacer and some adjustable cam bolts and be somewhat aligned/ lifted? I would do it for science, but atm it is my daily 😂

Correct. Keep in mind the more you lift the more you will need adjustment. So if you plan to lift over 2-3” you absolutely will need aftermarket upper control arms and should run a coil over
