Nice video. lovely car. I had an S124 with that engine and transmission combo. Sadly these 5 speed autos can fail and unless you are lucky to find a recon one its new from Merc at around £6,000.00 for the box. Mine failed at 155,000.00 and no recon specialists I tried wanted to go near it. It had had full Mercedes Benz main dealer servicing including gear box when it was meant to which was disappointing but I agree it is a great combo and still able to keep up today.

@@hawaiirealmedia5610buying one is a piece of cake. Keeping it in good working order can be far more challenging. And yes, these cars have many inherent flaws that sure make them look quite shoddy compared to a lot of other cars out there. Thats the cold hard truth.
@glennhand40533 күн бұрын
@@Rgh71fishyour comments are based on the fact that a lot of people bought 986's when the were dirt cheap a few years back, and never had the money to look after them in the way they deserved. These are the shoddy ones you might see around, although there would be less of them now. I don't know what you mean by inherent flaws making them look shoddy - doesn't really make sense. My '03 S has been serviced once a year by a well-regarded specialist - it's not a challenge in the least. It's a daily driver, looks awesome and goes even better. I also owned a Lexus ES300 from 2003 - one of the best and most reliable motor vehicles ever made. In comparison, the Porsche's parts do wear out quicker - no doubt, but is it a money pit? Not at all. Buy a good Boxster, not a trashed 'bargain', and be willing to spend what's needed when needed, and your Boxster experience will be fantastic❤.

I have owned many super cars Ferrari, Lambo, Detomaso Pantera GT5 . I am not so wealthy now in my later years and I can tell you the Porsche Boxster represents a true sports car for a modest outlay. I have the 3.2 manual S version with 6 speed box, bigger brakes and alloys. Worth the extra over the 2.7.

@@paulherrera1853 Im 79 now and I still love driving my Boxster. Good luck with finding a good one. Look out for low miles, full service history, not too many owners.other things to look out for is smoke on start up, weak syncro on 2nd gear. Some rattle on start up which is ok as long as it goes in a second or two. I have owned so many over the years I do have quite a bit of experience with them. I automatically change the oil as soon as I have purchased it to check the oil and filter for metal which could be an indication of ims failing.

Let me correct you, the 986 Boxster has a longer wheelbase than 996 911 Carrera, not the other way around as you indicated.
@YoungFilmmaker3 ай бұрын
@@brightenupcc thank you for watching my video, I hope you enjoyed the other facts in this film. I suspect that the reason why I feel there is more legroom in the 911 is because the Boxster has the engine in the middle and the 911 has it in the back so this means when you’re in the Boxster, there is less room for the drivers seat to move backwards.
@glennhand40533 күн бұрын
@YoungFilmmakerthat's probably true, as the longer Boxster wheelbase was to accomodate the engine, not taller drivers.
