I have owned my 320sl for nearly 20years and love it. More than enough power and less weight up front . Also a straight six is the perfect mechanical masterpiece:😊
@YoungFilmmaker6 ай бұрын
Agreed, the SL320 can certainly give the 500 a run for its money on twisty county roads thanks to that lighter engine with loads of torque!

Thanks for a great video, I particularly like the old images and footage of Bruno Sacco and the factory build sequences. Looking forward to watching your next instalment!!

Glad you enjoyed it! I put a lot of time and effort into finding all of the old footage from when the cars were being produced by Mercedes-Benz and I think it has a really nice touch to the video. I’m looking forward to creating more videos soon.

I just sold my Z3M roadster & replaced it with a low mileage R231 SL500 in hyacinth red with cream leather. Not the AMG SL63 admittedly. But not much less power or performance. It's more than enough. In fact I'm in awe of it. The fact it takes an extra 200 or 300 milliseconds to reach the legal speed limit compared to the AMG is immaterial. 0 - 60 in 4.5 is fine with me.I'm loving it to bits. I considered an SLK55. But they're almost as expensive. A great little V8 roadster, but less car for the money. SLK55 £55k new. SL500 £85k new but only £3 or £4k more second hand for the SL. And it's an almost all aluminium engineering masterpiece. When I test drove the Slk55 the engine felt special. When I drive my SL500 the whole car feels special. BTW your video is very informative. But the background music you've added is unnecessary & mildly irritating

Good video…having owned an R129 SL500 until recently I’d summarise and say they’re the right side of analog motoring with just enough smattering of digital technology!
@YoungFilmmaker7 ай бұрын
Cheers Nick and yes I agree, it’s the perfect blend of being analog while still having enough tech to make it easy to live with.

Just bought a 1990 500sl it’s a good looking car but needing help with a no power under acceleration when in drive . Abs light on and my car does not have the ads option. But maybe I’ll start at the distributor 🤷🏻♂️
