Viewers might be interested to read Patrick Touher's excellent account of his time in Artane Industrial School. The book is titled, 'Fear of the Collar.' It's a powerful read, and gives a very balanced account of day to day life under a harsh regime.

2.20 into the video it says ric auxiliaries marching through Dublin , its actually a small town in Co Waterford called Dungarvan (my hometown). 2 local men were marched over to the village across the bridge to place a british flag on a castle ruins for their acts of defience

Don't forget WTF the English politicians did to Ireland with the famine in 1840/50 when two million Irish men women and children starved to death and another two million fled from Ireland to all over the world 🌎 Churchill did too the Bengal undia in 1942 Churchill confiscated all the food for the war effort leaving the local people to starve more than A million died and when they partitioned the country into Pakistan and India two million people died they did the same in Palestine in 47 leaving the Palestinians at the mercy of the armed Jewish settlers who the USA had armed once England pulled out the Jewish settlers attacked the unarmed Palestinians killing men women and children burning whole towns so people couldn't return to homes they'd lived in for hundreds of years who were the terrorists then 😮

My father was the youngest of three Boys who were Orphaned with the Death of his mother a year after his father died both of them with TB and the boys were charged at the court of been destitute orphans and they were sentenced to the care of the christian brothers in Artane industrial school . my father was four years old and as an orphan He was the target of the serial Paedophiles and Sadists that operated that place and he survived eleven years of that Hell where orphans got the worse of it as they never had people to visit them and so nobody was there to speak up for them and they were in essence a captive group of the most needy children that the Irish State imprisoned at the mercy of the most brutal Psychopathic Paedophiles as ever walked this earth unsurpassed even by the nazis in their wanton cruelty to the most innocent of poor souls , My Father suffered the most atrocious night terrors his whole life were he would dream that they where going to take him from the bed and he would scream at the top of his lungs and thrash the bedding in his fear always ending drenched in sweat and terrified . He told me that every night when the lights were turned off that all the boys would be shaking in fear and praying to god that the brother on duty would not take him by the ear and drag him into the room that night and those poor children would hear the roars of pain from the boy who's turn it was to be taken . Well Dad lived in to his eighties and he suffered with Alzheimer's and my sisters took turns to stay nights to look after him as the night terrors still happened several times a week sometimes and one sister had to take dads walking stick and pretend to go outside to beat the two brothers away as dad was screaming in fear that they were out there and he could hear them calling him !

A good book is "To the Men I Killed." Brigadier General Crozier. He was a British officer in the trenches in WWI and speaks of the horrors of trench warfare and shooting British soldiers out of hand for failures to leave the trench. Later, he became a commander in the B&Ts and he said he never saw anything in WWI like the atrocities committed by the B&Ts upon the Irish people.

Yank of Irish descent here, my friend grew up in New Market he told me there was a wall near his home where the tans lined people up and shot them, he came to the US and became a decorated US Marine , his unit was forced to conduct training with Brit’s Royal Marines , Brit’s are used to seeing Irish last names on US military members because there’s millions of us , this Brit Sgt yelled at my buddy “get up that rope paddy.” My buddy Michael let go of the rope jumped down and punched the Brit in the face an fight was on. Michaels Commanding Officer had him at attention in his office asked him what is wrong with you? ! Michael explained that Brit calling him paddy was a derogatory racial slur and assumed he was just another yank with an Irish last name not the genuine article from New Market !!!! His C/O said ok no problem but we have to pretend that I’m giving you discipline, but I’m not , up the USA up the Ra !

The tans were just as bad as the nazis, evil bastards. And we had no modern army or weapons but we still didn't surrender, brave men then, and died by murderous and evil tans and the RIC, also the RUC, and now PSNI, but as the decades went on a legend of a priest, the padre, and he changed the game, he has released a book and is nearly 100 years old. And still alive and kicking, the Irish never forgot what they were put through in those days, and now is all that needs to happen is Irish Unity, The British government has no rights to the six counties, sooner the better Britain signs the full Irish unity, then the better it is for bought England and Ireland, now that we have learned to live in peace, despite your religious views, live and let live, and leave the past were it belongs but never forget the brave men and women that took up arms and fought back.
