Fun fact: i spent my first 4 years exclusively playing community servers, and i never even knew there were official servers until after the meet your match update. Up until a year after then i just assumed that all tf2 servers were community servers

wow, it's been a while that I've heard about Golden Machine Gun. I wasn't there when it was the most active, but I remember seeing a deep dive about this server. Their final video is somewhat magical and amazing, especially watching their final video. All of the people on that server are long gone, and the owner has disappeared. It's legacy is still there, and the nostalgia is real. Also, the taste in music here is absolutely marvelous, gotta love the selection.

This was an awesome video! Surprisingly i've actually played the majority of these maps in all teirs apart from the last teir! mariokart, trade city maps etc... the mario hotel and touhou mansion being two i played but really had no idea where they came from, so there were a few "ohhh THATS what that is!" moments from me! Because of how good this video was the only thing i would say was "bad" is that you didn't include a link to a download containing all these maps, but i totally understand not doing that for multiple reasons! :)

Lazy purple silly server sometimes will play weird old maps like wubwubwub, theres another i found recently that plays achievement_turbov while the map itself definitely changed from the last time i played it, it actually looks virtually the same

I remember when I was pretty fresh instal, I was browsing through community servers with my friend. We joined some weird Russian server that had a block of flats on the map. We entered it and my friend screamed when he entered one of the apartments because it was covered whole with images of man spreading his anus. It was horrifying and traumatic.

The funny thing about cp_balloonrace is that while the map is borderline impossible to find in a server in regular TF2, it does show up in fairly common intervals in community servers in TF2 _Classic._

Hello there, I'd like to clarify what the "4chan Party Van" is, as I've noticed you made a mistake on that section (58 minutes in or so). The "4chan Party Van" was a meme within 4chan back in the mid 2000s describing SWAT vans and teams as a "party van" and being SWATted as "v&", a corruption of "vanned", which also derives from b& or banned. It does not refer to a group or anything like that. Thanks for making the video!

There's a server that plays many of these maps still (outside trade, achievement, and surf maps) called The Weeabootique. its very active Friday and Saturday nights, NA times. keep mic receive volume above half, read the MOTD.

1:24:00 there is actually only one explorable house on either end. In English the phrase “two exploitable houses” is a noun cluster, and “on” is the predicate of the sentence, with the phrase “either side of the street” being another argument similar to the noun cluster but operating on the verb. The way you phrased it unambiguously implies there are four houses to explore, two on either side. I think there are only two houses but I could be wrong. The way you could’ve fixed this is by saying “there are two fully explorable houses, one on either side of the street”
