Kiskis going to likely win their second regional this week in Delaware. It’s too bad they aren’t going to Natl this year, they won class 2A and 16th overall last year, getting closer and closer to being a top 12 national qualifier again like they were in the 90s and 2000s. Do you think Vandegrift has the goods to compete with Carmel and Avon at grand ntl this year?

How is it going to work as schools move into region and area comps (UIL) and not competing in the big comps like BOA?

I finally understand the bracket concept now. Last week I thought y’all were going to whittle the bracket down based on show performances. That seemed impossible. This is way more fun than just a list.

Y'all gonna Sleep on South Jones HS Band of Braves in Week 1!? This MS juggernaut, who won BOA in Alabama last year, took Best Overall at Gautier last week (Oct, 2024!). You Snooze, you Loose. You're missing out! 😂❤ My money's on this group of Jones County kids!

I can confirm it was VERY hot at San Marcos. When we(McNeil) took the field the field temperature was around 130 degrees. It was absolutely BRUTAL

I like the idea, but I'm not sure how the execution will actually work out. The chances of an underdog shocking the world seem too great. Looking at last year's San Antonio Super Regional results, Rouse was 4.6 points ahead of Cedar Ridge in preliminaries. Based on how you've described point differences in previous videos, that seems like a massive gap to overcome in a single year. If Cedar Ridge were to beat Rouse, that's an even larger gap going into the next round against Vandergrift. If Rouse wins, there was a 2.7 difference with Vandergrift when they met at Round Rock this year. That also seems like an insurmountable gap to overcome within the same marching season. I feel like this is just going to come down to Vandergrift, Hebron, Avon, and Carmel in the final four. Maybe another band beats out one of Vandergrift/Hebron, but ultimately it'll come down to TX vs IN in the finals. Again, love the idea, but I don't see how a band 10 or higher on the full ranking list would have a chance of making it into the final four let alone win overall.

No Dobyns-Bennett? This was a let down from the start. Won’t be following this series sadly. Looking forward to something different next year. Maybe shoot for 10-12 in each region and forgo an overall national top 20? Maybe base it more on actual BOA scores and historical scores than just a group of selected individuals in a slack chat lol.

Seems low scores followed Pearland from prelims to finals for the one judge…..and seems not much in line with the interpretations of other more experienced judges. I guess it happens.

Tupelo here first time going to a BOA since 2015 and we made 1st in division and finals.

Yo! Just wanna let you know, Avon did win that Center Grove competition I was talking about. By quite a bit too. Brownsburg was second, Noblesville third, then Franklin Central 4th. Avon also won all the captions (not a surprise) but Franklin ended up winning an award for being loved but a majority of the fans there that night, so good for them!

Thanks for giving Four States the shoutout! FYI, Liberty Eylau is pronounced “eye-low”. They were longtime 4A district rivals with PG but this past alignment dropped to 3A.

I know each BOA show has its own dynamics, but comparing all the regionals for this week, you have to take notice that Hebron and Flower Mound were Both in the 87’s, while the other winners of the week from other Regionals were in the 82’s. Extremely significant. I know there are different judging panels and each has seen other bands across the nation to compare them to. I found this interesting. I’m not sure, but I think it’s Flower Mound’s year to go to BOA championships. I will be watching closely. Great recaps of the contests! Looking forward to next week!

D. Brandon is David Brandon, former director of bands at Duncanville. Says a lot about his integrity and character that he was able to put Dville lower than they placed overall. We need more judges who can put aside their potential bias and put down an honest number.

Once again, I appreciate these coming out so soon after the contests. What a wild swing between prelims and finals for Pearland and Reagan. Reminds me of the Austin regional last year when Rouse had a surprise win in finals after trailing by a decent margin in prelims.

Hi - It is "Edmond Santa Fe" -- I live in Edmond, albeit my kids are in a different Edmond band. Excited for Santa Fe to do well! They are a top 5 band in Oklahoma.

Yo! This saturday there’s gonna be a competition between 4 bands at Center Grove this saturday, it’s these bands: Franklin Central Noblesville Brownsburg Avon It’s gonna be pretty cool, I play for FC so I’ll let you know when I can what results were!

Franklin Central Band Kid here: Our school did eventually cancel the BOA Louisville trip, and shockingly so did just about every other school. I was told that only 3 bands actually showed up and played, and another crazy thing was apparently the flooding got really bad to the point that the exit we were going to take (from the highway to the stadium) had a huge car crash happen, so we would’ve been stuck for 4 hours anyway. Crazy right? But yes, all the Indiana schools, including Carmel, all cancelled and none of us went. I think at that point it was a good call.

Foster HS kid here- performed at BOA Shenandoah prelims and finals This was probably the craziest regional and the most ridiculous (in a good or bad way idek anymore) results that I’ve ever been a part of. Still enjoyed every minute of the competition though! :)

How about showing some love to the Northeast Texas small bands?? Pleasant Grove had an invitational last weekend with Mineola, Winnsboro, and Redwater all competing. Also Texas High will be hosting the 4 states contest on Oct. 5th.

Klein Oak kid here I can say I was not expecting North Shore, Dawson, and Friendswood to place the way they did I did however, expect the Woodlands to be first Cy-Fair to be second and College Park to be third
