It's a hang on the back fluval filtration. I was cycling the new media cause I was making a quarantine tank.

@Burritosarebetterthantacos retail it's about $1000 +tax. I got mine at a LFS and it was on sale for $800 +tax.

The bubbles won’t go all the way up on mine , does anyone still have the manual or know how deep it should be ? Or if there’s a dial to turn?

I'm still having trouble with this myself. I believe it is related to the water level. The manual that came with mine was useless. It didn't really have clear instructions, so I messed around with it until I figured out how it worked.

Why are you adding more ammonia? The 4 oz bottle I have treats 200 gallons. I put in half the bottle like it directed me to. Why are you adding more than what the bottle says?

I am past day 9 or so and wish I would have done a wc before today. My ammonia has been super high and finally DR tim answered and said do a wc! This is probably going to be 3 weeks or so. Might add some turbo start even! I think the probl;en is I am cycing a frag tank with rubble and rocks with no sand bed and I detected some ammonia before I added it so only added half of what he said to. Much have leached from a rock I didn't cure like I did my others and threw in a day or so before I added the one and only!

I hate this skimmer so much. The bubbler part is always getting clogged and mine is so obnoxiously loud the buzzing noise drives me crazy. They made the skimmer section for the eco 40 way to small almost forcing you to use theirs. I’m thinking about getting a filter tray from intank and removing the baskets and using that section as the skimmer section.

Possibly the water level. Also, i think this was when i was doing the break-in period of my tank.

Looking good. Just finished cycling my 40 this week. I’ve got the floss holder and media basket in chamber 2. I’m sure skimmer is a constant problem. I replaced return pump with a dsc-2000 and with it turned as low as it can go, it still wants to drain last chamber. ATO is a must. I bought mine second hand and it came with a Kraken style acrylic lid (nice). Overflow slits are not large enough. May have to put stock pump back in or get a 1200. Installed 1/2” RFG as well. Tried to install a “Y” with 2 RFG”s but flow was too great and drain return chamber. Keep up on the updates.

Did you do anything to solve the overflow slit? Im using the syncra sdc 3.0 and lowest setting as well but it still wants to drain the return chamber as well as the original media chamber. Also where did you put your ato sensor? The water level on my return chamber fluctuates so much with the mechanical filter built up causing slow flow.

I removed a little bit of ceramic media in the bottom of chamber one. That helped with the issue of the return pump draining. My automatic top off sensor is about 6 inches down in the return pump chamber. My overall display tank water level is a little bit higher than I would like. Causing it to not waterfall onto the chamber one floss, but it seems to be working OK.

Hi I got problems with my cycle I’ve been doing it over a month and I only get 0 readings of ammonia and nitrite in 34 hours instead of 24 can I add fish in or not yet?

Hello! 0 ammonia and nitrate are good readings. I'm not an expert at this i still have some trial and errors. Some tanks, depending on the method of cycling, take a few weeks, if not a couple of months. As long as you don't see a spike in ammonia and nitrate, you should be fine. I suggest starting off with a clown fish since they are hardy. After a few feedings, monitor the water and adjust as needed.

How’s the skimmer months later. I assume you got it dialed in? Height? Setting my eco 40 up today. Won’t need skimmer for a long time.

Protein skimmer works fine. You just need to keep the water level the same. That way, you don't need to adjust the height of the skimmer.

Ordered the same including the chamber 2 media basket. Received a week ago. Packaging was stellar. Chamber 2 basket is an extra tight fit.

Do you have this on a 24 or 40g? How do you like it? The chamber 2 basket has me a little confused on why'd you want water flow hitting the media from the bottom instead of coming down from the top?

I have it on the 40. Yes, it does seem weird because most media baskets do flow down from the top to bottom. The floss media shelf stops all large particles at the overflow and then water is forced up in chamber two. Doesn’t appear to make a difference. I just finished cycling and parameters are spot on. Upgraded return pump as well.

@chandayee I have this for my 40g. I used this in replacement of the black filter block that goes in the first chamber. Works pretty well collecting all the gunk, but it does require a filter floss change occasionally. I haven't gotten the media box yet, but I don't think it matters in the direction of flow. Cause if you've used a hang in the back filter like the fulval, it's pretty much the same concept.

I waited about a week and did a 25% water change. I know all my readings were correct, as shown on the video, but I just wanted to make sure cause test kits aren't 100% accurate. I did a retest to make sure my parameters were good , and then the water change.

Yeah, it pretty much does it job agyer the 2 week break in period. The only thing you need to watch is the water level and make adjustments to the height of the skimmer in order to get the proper skim

Should be able to fit a 30-gallon. Just need to make sure the back chamber is big enough to fit it. I'll try and take the measurements on my tank

The return pump tube is not fitting snuggly through the glass. Which is causing water to leak from the tank to the return pump chamber. Any solutions?

Hello @mustafakadhim1367 I've been looking into that myself and I found this Bulkhead ABS Slip x Slip from Bulk Reef Supply. I haven't done this to my tank yet but somthing I might do later on. Might need to do some measuring to make sure it would fit.

I just got a 40 as well. What you going to do in the back in the first chamber? I’m thinking filter sock and at the bottom carbon. Then the skimmer. refugium then return pump heater can’t wait to see what more you do as well

If you’re doing coral skip the carbon and add chaeto moss with a small plant light.

The white stuff on the glass if just powder residue from the sand. It wipes off easy.

Great video! I just setup the same aquatop 40 . Is your stand sturdy ? I feel like if I press mine side to side it has a little give and makes me nervous 🙄 is your the same? Would appreciate any feedback . It is also level . I did put a level on it too make sure that wasn't the problem

I just received one of these myself and am looking forward to the build. It will be a while for me to get mine setup since I plan on upgrading the return pump to a Sicce Syncra SDC 3.0 with a random flow generator and want to build or find a way to attach a filter sock instead of the black sponge.

Nice that's good to hear! I'm thinking of upgrading my return pump also but probably going to say with somthing that has a steady flow. Also, I think your able to by filter socks but might need to modify it a little to make it fit.
