Is there any level of noise coming from the filtration or any other device that can be bothering people sitting in the living room? Also same question about the smell.

I just received one of these myself and am looking forward to the build. It will be a while for me to get mine setup since I plan on upgrading the return pump to a Sicce Syncra SDC 3.0 with a random flow generator and want to build or find a way to attach a filter sock instead of the black sponge.

Nice that's good to hear! I'm thinking of upgrading my return pump also but probably going to say with somthing that has a steady flow. Also, I think your able to by filter socks but might need to modify it a little to make it fit.
