I know with professional tattoos, they use some sort of stamped reference to trace over the design on the skin. Is there a way to do this for stick and poke? or are you just free handing and looking at a reference?

i’ve always wanted a tattoo, and after a year of deciding i finally decided that i’ll be giving myself a stick and poke tattoo of a drawing of a cat i did (cats are my special interest) and i want to do it a week after my 17th birthday, which is later this month! i know it’s not a good choice, but i want to stay safe when doing this. i would rather make only one bad choice than two lol

Is this permanent or does the ink fade away over time. Compared to an actual tattoo from a shop. Or no different?

I saw some girl on tiktok who put Vaseline over the stencil and tattooed over it. Supposedly it was to stop the ink from bleeding. Do u recommend this?

I plan on learning how to tattoo as a hobby or may be job in the future, my younger step sister is going through a rebellious phase and I just want her to do stick and pokes safely. She had one but it was very unclean and almost got infected so I’m trying to help make sure she doesn’t cause a huge infection.

When I was doing this with the fake skin sent in the practice kit, the stencil kept completely wiping off after one wipe with soapy water. Even when I waited for 5 minutes for the stencil to sit. Can you please help me understand why?

For stretching your skin you could use kinesiology tape to keep it consistently in place

I’ve been working on three different stick poke tattoos now for over a month, and I keep hitting dead ends where the ink isn’t sticking particularly well, or parts looked blotchy, or it just gets too painful after a while. And it turns out I really needed this video, because I’ve been making a lot of rookie mistakes. (Predominately going just a llliiittttttllleee too deep with the needle and not quite wiping it properly, it seems.) Thanks for this! Next time I do a touch up, I’ll modify my technique using pointers I got from this video. 😁😁😁
