Where do you get your insurance through? I realize this is four years later, but the cheapest I have found so far is $26,000 for the first full year, and that is 18k cheaper than progressive. That quote is through Bi-burke The coverage, however, is only at 1 million liability and 250k cargo coverage. Part of the problem is the comprehensive and collision or physical damage insurance. That's required by the lean holder on my pick app to cover the vehicle. It comes out to almost half of the insurance quote if I could get around that it wouldn't be so bad, but i'm not sure how to do that. I don't know if I even can get around it or if I just need to find someplace cheaper in general.

I did some research and I purchased Michelin LTX M/S2 275/55R20 Dec 24, 2024 to replace BF Goodrich All Terrain KO2 for Big Blue, a 2012 F-150 Lariat with 173,000 miles 5L V8. It has a tow package and a 36 gallon tank. I don’t haul heavy loads like you but will be hauling a 25 ft sailboat. I’m 78 so these may be my last set of tires I’ll need. I joke that I want to be buried in my truck but my younger daughter wants to inherit it. If I don’t make her the Executor would she dig me out of my grave to get my truck?

How do you get beginner experience in hauling, unless you haul stuff? I get that you can start with light duty towing, but it doesn't pay hardly anything.

Your numbers are good for the whole total “26000” pounds GCWR but remember. If your trailer like you said is a “14000” GVWR and it’s curb weight is “4400”pounds you are left with 9600 pounds that that particular trailer can hold. Everything after that you are overweight on those 2 axels. Why do I say 2 axels? Because normally a 14000 GVWR trailer comes with 2 (7000) pound axels. Which means overweight tickets. So “7500” pick up curb weight + “4400” trailer curb weight leaves you with “14100” of payload “3 cars each @4700 curb weight “ it’s wrong. If you pull all that extra weight you will be destroying your axels in a matter of a month or so. Each unit, tractor and trailer, have a PAYLOAD that needs to be respected if you want everything to run smooth and safe.

Has the laws changed on this in the last 4 years because North Dakota doesn’t go by this. They use your gvwr of trailer and truck that put us over the 26,000.

Ohhhhh weeee thst was good information might have to put an in cab axle weight monitor inside the pickup truck so you can see the weight and axle distribution while loading might be pricey to do but might be worth the investment for the long haul
