e.postData.contents reveals the data sent, however this particular line of code doesn't execute in mine. If i comment this line out, the script works as expected. But again, without that line, i can't retrieve the data sent. I've never been this baffled in my life. I came here cuz i have no clue what's going on

Nicely done! But i would improve it a little. Upon selection of main category when onSelectChange event (old onChange event) is triggered, set value of null or use method clearContent in the range, where it applies data validation of subgategories. Then the user does not have to see the error red angle, it will appear as a brand new dropdown field with no option yet selected. But in general, great job 👍
