Likely picking up a used flex soon. Tons of stuff already changed on it including s rebuilt tranny, which is why I think it might be a good buy. However i dont see any records for PTU service so I'll probably do this soon. I wonder if the thin long handle tools used for serpentine belts would help with this job. We'll see!

I like that a lot of the comments say he's trying to look like a cop. If you want that, all you have to do is buy a four-year-old charger and keep it stock. At least around Portland Oregon here, a ton of cop cars are literally just unmarked chargers with regular plates. I assume any of them are on the road.

Dry your panties dude. Most retired cop cars end up back on the road. I just bought an Impact Blue 2014 Interceptor because of the 305 HP, and the AWD, not to look like a cop.
@CrashriMovieProductions3 ай бұрын
yeah, I don't know why everyone expects when you buy a ''police interceptor'' think you are buying it to ''impersonate a cop'' which is not true in most cases I'm buying one here in a few months a 2016 Spi with 154,000 miles, and gonna make it into an offroad Taurus I don't know why they always think that, even though I do like when people move out of the way lol. @whitestratman3158

It's nuts that Ford is so hellbent on the "lifetime oil" thing that dealers won't touch the PTU. Thank God mine came with a drain plug and isn't entirely covered by the exhaust so it's not nearly such a pain to service myself.

I added a 1/8" drain plug to the bottom of my Edge's pto and it was simple, it works beautifully, changes every 25000 miles, and takes about 45 minutes. I also added a heat shield between the catalytic converter just to shield heat from the pto.

Ok here my issue. I was given a good 2016 sti long block. My car is 2002 wrx technically. I’m not setup for dual AVCs. Can I just A. Leave it how it is and tap the cams and use my ej205 cam gears, and leave all the AVC solenoids in place? Or b just swap my ej205 cams and cam gears over whilst leaving the solenoids in place. I understand that the cams don’t get oil unless the oil lines are there and that the exhaust has little holes plumbed for lubrication of the cams and return. I’m just trying to figure this out as it’s slightly you confusing

Thinking about buying a used Ptu for my 2008 Escape and then installing a rebuild kit into it. This so I can just swap the rebuilt with the existing. Any thought about difficulty in doing a rebuild kit, pros / cons? Can the case itself be worn so that a rebuild kit is not worth it?
@johnbrooks49656 ай бұрын
If you're talking about replacing the seals, that is doable. Replacing the bearings and races would be much more difficult and require a hydraulic press.

Some stuff I'd like to mention, since having owned a retired Charger, that calibrated speedo doesn't mean that all other speedos aren't calibrated. It's a legal thing for cops to use that speedo as a means to write a ticket. All civilian cars are calibrated to similar specifications as the police ones. It's just for when you take a speeding ticket to court, the cop can have the backing of a 'calibrated instrument'. They're supposed to re-certify the speedos every other year, but nobody does. Those asking if the lights work, yeah if you've got the control head for them. You can keep them on the car, but it's a felony to use them on the road. You also cannot add/re-add the lights if you remove them. But the doors being armored up is new to me, same with the rear structure reinforcement, that's actually really cool but looks like a nightmare if you've gotta do work on the car. My dodge had heavy reinforcing crossmembers in the doors, which was really nice cause side impacts are kinda scary. As for the gas mileage, I run 93 in my SHO, and get 14mpg lmao. Which is crazy, since going from a Charger, I'd thought I'd get the same or better gas mileage but hell no lmao. But seeing you got 19mpg, you have the 3.7NA, and not the 3.5 Ecoboost. The Ecoboost fuckin' drinks gas. The 3.7 is a great engine, my dad has one in his exploder (Just do the timing belt & water pump, those fail ~120k miles, and with them goes the rest of the engine). Anyway all said and done, I had my fun with old cop cars, but I'm gonna stick with civilian cars. More comfortable, and less problems. That and I really enjoy my civilian SHO, I just really, really miss the RWD of the Charger, that was super fun.
