Well, actually they are Lithium Iron Phosphate batteries, not Lithium Polymer. And they are actually designed for boats. They are completely sealed batteries. do you remember the part numbers for the 2 extra cables you needed to make the mega live detachable, the ones you ran through the kayak popping out through the thru hull basically
@CaseyReedFishing2 ай бұрын
Those both come with the Mega Live. It's just the power cable which runs to the battery and the ethernet cable which either goes to the back of the graph or the ethernet switch. If you have a Helix you will need this adapter cable though: AS EC QDE - Ethernet Adapter Cable humminbird.johnsonoutdoors.com/us/blog/mega-live-imaging-unboxing-and-installation-tips

Does the new star drag from Gomexus have the clicking mechanism in it for the clicking drag or do you have to use the ball and spring from your origional star drag? Thats the only thing I dont like about the curado. Ive lost that clicker ball and spring on 2 of my curados. Wish they could use a clicker plate similar to Lews or Diawa. That's literally the only thing I dont like about the Curado K they are bullet proof reels. Just ordered 100mm handle and new star drag. Thanks for sharing

I believe it. These have way more screws so I imagine it will hold up a lot better. But a fish like that has the ability to do some damage. In my opinion, you're best option is to have backing on any track you're using for rod holders for fish that big.

I fish for musky, and turned on by the mega live features, however, kinda confused with the transducer aspect, as far as pointing towards the shore line, and fish, being mounted on the trolling motor. Im looking at getting the Ultra quest trollling motor, if that helps. Any input would be great! Thanks
@CaseyReedFishing8 ай бұрын
I'm a little confused on to what you are asking exactly. If you can clarify that would be great and I'll try to help better. But if you turn your TM/Live towards shore, you will see black at the distance where the shore line is. You will be able to see any fish and or structure inbetween the transducer and the shore. If budget isn't an issue, I'd look at getting the Humminbird Target Lock instead of mounting it to a trolling motor. Having the trolling motor working double duty to hold your position and navigate, as well as control where you're looking with the Live is not ideal especially if your in any conditions that are not considered ideal. I hope that answers your question but if not, please clarify a little bit and I'll try to help more.
@dougmead76698 ай бұрын
I am concerned if the transducer is mounted on the TM, not getting a clear view of the shore line, casting for muskies, if the transducer is moving with the trolling motor. I want to be able to fish contours/shore lines with a clear view, instead of the view being "zig zagged" as the trolling motor moves along the contour line. I see where mega live side imaging, or deep imaging does this. What is the difference with target lock? Cost really isnt a factor, mega live or target lock. I am looking to put this on a Ultrex Quest, with a 9" Helix on the bow, and a 7" at the console. I will also have the displays dedicated to a separate battery and 1 bank charger, separate from the trolling motors (24V) and the 12v cranking battery. I hope that clarifies, thanks again for the info!@@CaseyReedFishing

what size hardware did you use? anything you have to buy separately in terms of hardware

@CaseyReedFishing8 ай бұрын
The one is installed into the stock brass inserts but the second one on the right side of the kayak is mounted to tracks. The tracks have probably 8-10 screws each holding them in. So between 16-20 some screws into the thick plastic that old town is known for, has held up very well for me.

What is the advantage of having it in the boat rather than separate. Only thing I can think of is that it’s out of the way and always there but seems like unnecessary weight in the kayak.
@CaseyReedFishing9 ай бұрын
I like having it simple and just plug in and go. Not have to worry about taking batteries out or having chargers outside that aren't meant to be in the weather. Plus its a dual charger so I can charge multiple batteries at once. Weight isn't a huge issue for me.
