Yeah plus the person may not be a native speaker, have confidence issues to speak, or just not decent equipment. This is perfectly acceptable when used as a tool on what's clearly a human made video. I would take issue if it was completely AI generated like those dumb top 10 gadgets channels riddled with dumb outdated choices and incorrect info

about both using deb packages, false. ubuntu pushes their proprietary format snaps. way slower and bigger than deb packages.

Friendly, lightweight: lubuntu, mx linux, mint (still lighter compare to ubuntu), xubuntu (lighter than mint abit but still friendly) Lightweight but might not be friendly: antix, arch, void linux ( you have to update everyday)

For beginners, I usually recommend XFCE because it comes with many built-in features that I had to add to my Fluxbox setup over time using third-party apps and tools.

nobara kde vs fedora gnome... why??? 😅
@derpaderpaderpader8 күн бұрын
Every distro i've tried to game on has broken *except* Pop!_OS. It is ROCK solid and the dev team seems to be pretty passionate about the project they try to pair with their own hardware. I'm not saying other distros are more difficult or "bad". In my experience with arch distros, a buggy release to the update channel can and does brick systems. Nobara is solid, but nvidia driver issues pushed me away. Tried SuSE, Ubuntu...nothing is as reliable as Pop!_OS or as easy to configure. This should be the distro people start with.

While this is excellent information, it would have been also extremely helpful and perhaps better to get a measure of disk I/O usage throughout the measuring periods. I'm hearing that XFCE is much lighter on the actual load of the system, which translates into a more responsive system for older devices and older HDDs, etc.

You mentioned major brands which don't optimize their components for linux. Dell, Lenovo, MSI? Sorry mate, you wasted your time preparing this shit and mine as well. System 76, Prisium, Pinebook... these are build and tested for linux in mind only.

One important difference not mentioned in this video: Software installation. With Mint, you get the choice of System Package or [containerized] Flatpak. With Ubuntu, you can only install as containerized with Snap Packages.

False. I use Ubuntu and install my favorite apps with one command in a text file that is made executable.
