It is so sad that Elvis never made it to Europe to perform. 😢

Hi Trey. I am always filled with wonder at how Elvis fans, myself included, covet those places where he once stood, walked, sat in, slept in. Such places as these have a way of taking on a reverence for his having been there. I frequently ask myself do I offend God by placing Elvis this high in my regards but then I consider that Elvis seems so connected to God that I feel closer to God for loving Elvis. A personal quandary..yes , but I believe others must be having similar concerns. I would love to know.

I could very well be wrong, but I believe that's Ranger Doug from The Riders in the Sky doing the narration in the background. Ranger Doug did 2 stints with Bill Monroe in the late 1960s.

I did sit by the stage a few times. Got a kiss and 2 scarves. Had to save a for a big tip to get there. My Mom , Sister and I saw him 14 times there and was fortunate to meet him backstage just for a few minutes. I was kinda speechless but managed to tell him he was the greatest. My sister and I walked or I should say practically ran to get there before he left. We sat next to a gentleman that had a dress shop at the hotel and he took us to meet Elvis. The hotel and showroom was so beautiful and it is such a shame to see it now. The elegance of the hotel at the time fit Elvis perfectly. So very exciting and unbelievable.

Sam Phillips didn't invent Rock n Roll. Bill Haley was doing it in the early 50's. And Texan guitarist Goree Carter (pre Chuck Berry) had the 1st true Rock n Roll record in 1949 called Rock Awhile.

You are quite correct ! Thank you for " beating me to the punch" 😊 However, I do believe that Elvis, Scott and Bill invented rockabilly 😊

That's really cool Trey. I'd like to have been able to go see that in person, but at least I got to see it on your video. I have been to the Ryman twice before they started remodeling and repairing it. I got to stand on the original stage where Elvis and so many others great entertainers stood. The first time I went, I went with my Uncle and his wife. I was about 16 or 17 years old. We got to go down that slope that's off to the right of the stage then we got to go into the dressing rooms. We got to sign our names on the dressing room wall. There were two dressing rooms that you were allowed to go into back then. The second time I went was on my honeymoon with my husband. That was in Feb. 1989. I couldn't wait to show him where I signed the wall in the dressing room, but darn it...they had painted over everyone's signatures and roped it off so no one could go in the dressing rooms no more. That was disappointing, but it was still so exciting to get to stand up on that stage Trey. It still smelt like old wires and dust and I loved it. 😊❤ I could just picture all the famous people that sung there, especially Elvis Presley. Thank you Trey for sharing this video with us. I'm glad someone finally did that, even though they did turn the most famous star in the world away. It still happened and it's still apart of Elvis' history. 👍😉🥰❤️❤️❤️❤️

For all those saying the they broke Elvis’ heart by writing the book, what about Elvis breaking their hearts by unjustly firing them with only 3 days notice and 1 weeks pay? They all wound up in financial distress over that. Red lost his house. Elvis had no idea about the real world and gave no thought to how it would affect them financially. In reality this was Elvis and Vernon’s fault. Elvis had them fired because of them stopping the supply of drugs coming from one of the Voice members. His intent was to teach them a lesson to lay off confronting him about the drugs but he had instructed his Dad to give them $5000 and rehire them in a few weeks. But Vernon didn’t do that. Then Elvis refused to talk to them when they tried to talk to him and things just festered. Once they were fired, they knew the only way to get to Elvis and show him what the drugs were doing to him was to write a book. They actually turned down bigger offers from the National Enquirer to write a store for that paper. They turned it down because they thought a book would be more effective. Elvis was out of control and they knew he was heading towards death and unfortunately they were right but their book was too late to help.

The official autopsy comes out in 2027 but Dr Nick confirmed what I already knew. It wasn’t the drugs. Elvis had bowel problems as a kid. What a shame none of the doctors had the balls to stand up to him and make him see how dangerous it was!

I don’t recall 74 or 75. My parents were members of Jaycees. I and my 2 older sisters helped roll posters. I remember the President of the Jaycees taking me by the hand to fill an empty seat on front row inside aisle of right side of floor seats. Wow! Front row seat. Elvis handed me a purple scarf which I later gave to my sister. About 8 yrs ago my business bottled a product for a gentleman by the name of Duke Bardwell. Duke played bass guitar for Elvis at that time. It truly is a small world!! Elvis also played at West Monroe High School. Way before my time though.

I'm pretty sure in the early 90's there was a movie theater in the Von with only one screen to watch whatever they had playing that day. If I'm thinking right I watched Indiana jones and the last crusade there
