He has some interesting lines - and in the last one's case, tragic - when you awaken the Healer, Cleric and Saviour Archetypes for the first time with him. "The power of the Healer... I am grateful. Healing is its own power, and I will take whatever power I can get!" "And yet, it's strange... Somehow I can feel my daughter's presence in this power." "The power of the Cleric... I am grateful. I accept the power of healing gladly!" "But wonders never cease... I feel my daughter growing as a person..." "The power of the Saviour... I am grateful. The ultimate power of healing shall be mine!" "Yet, what a strange feeling it gives me. I'm reminded of my daughter. I hope one day, when she's a woman grown, I can tell her of this..." I'm honestly convinced Grius was meant to be playable for at least a little bit longer, considering you start Maria's Follower right before his death (even though he has no animations for any Archetypes outside of Seeker, Warrior or Mage lineages), or at least you were able to access Academia and get him to awaken to Healer. Or at least, you were originally able to use every Archetype in your NG+, regardless of Follower ranks, but changed their minds. Either way, it's nice to see even in unseen text, Grius is a pretty doting father

Is the game modded, is that really just a completely new portrait that goes normally unused? Maybe originally instead of everyone getting royal archetypes everyone would just get a more generic version of prince?

@@idk-ov9ohYeah the unused portraits are kind of weird they exist but far less polished., Also saw this with the unused archetypes for Grius with the hack to keep him alive. This isn't really a mod but using Cheat Engine to hack the game to add Prince as an archetype to all the characters.

Wish that there was a mod that properly added it as a function of Psykers as an ability you could learn. I love playing summoners in games like this, and Daemons are top tier summon material. Anyway, thank you for showing how to finagle this with ToyBox, will certainly be trying this on my Heretic Pysker run.

Well, if it starts in an alternate scenario with Louis being taken out of the picture before Grius has to have his life taken as people speculate then that would follow that he would be around. It would create an interesting scenario where the crew has to resolve the curse issue in a different way.

Honestly, it’s probably due to not fully knowing which line is for which. Better to record everything so that nothing breaks than risking shit. Game development is hard and communication is harder.

Honestly these were probably just placeholders to make sure the game doesn't crash, like whether or not it was intended for everyone to be able to use Prince, I really doubt that Grius was ever going to live past the opening act

@@SonicKurosaki I think the only reason Grius got voice lines for all the archetypes was because of New Game Plus mode where you could carry over your MAG. Everyone having unique lines for the Prince archetype is probably because at some point in development it wasn't exclusive to the main character.

@@HiddenAdept I'm personally thinking that the original idea was that while everyone would have had access to a 'Ruler' Archetype, it's abilities would be different for each character - and then they made them Royal X for everyone except the hero.

This is possible using Cheat Engine with the PC version of Metaphor. Let's you set any character in your party to any Archetype in the game. Grius is back in the party thanks to a mod.

@@harshamnsl7208 Yep Grius has voice lines for every Archetype lineage in the game. For the PC version there is a mod that lets you add him back to your party for the rest of the game. (Only appears in dungeons and battles though). I uploaded videos showing the mod off.

@@defunct32 I honestly feel like the Sanctist church and its counsel would become the primary antagonists instead. It would be like Canon Vengeance where one choice at the beginning of the game changes everything. Forden final boss where his Human form is just a giant golden head version of himself would be sick as hell. Edit: oh and Rella getting an archetype and being the only archetype user opponent would be sick. It would be cool if she was Savior and would fight alongside the ice dragon making the battle even more of a struggle

I'm pretty sure they added those lines in case someone tries to mod Grius into playable character despite leaving after Hulkenberg joins the party to prevent game from crashing. Kinda like how your initial navigators (Mitsuru, Teddie and Morgana) before the REAL navigators (Fuuka, Rise and Futaba) join your party from the Persona franchise as they have unused lines (though in English P5, Morgana has navigation dialogues for Sumi but it wasn't recorded)

Yep, though there are some limitations. Equipping Grius with any archetype outside of the Warrior, Mage or Seeker lineages inevitably causes the game to crash at the next loading screen. I am rendering a video right now showing Grius as a Samurai.

@@herrpeter13 This is basically a disguise for the player as a Sahuagin which is accomplished by hacking the game using a external tool called Cheat Engine. There is one popular cheat table for Baldur's Gate 3 if you Google it which can let you add any skill in the game to your character, even NPC exclusive abilities like the Sahuagin Blood Frenzy skill. The disguise to take on the appearance of a Sahuagin comes from a cheat table called "NPC Tool" on the Baldur's Gate 3 Nexus website.

Link to mod (table for cheat engine) in the description. It's called NPC Tool and let's you disguise your character with the appearance of any NPC in the game. There is also another chet engine table for the game that lets you give your character the NPC exclusive abilities. For example Sahuagin Blood Frenzy.

One little addendum to this: if the character that cast Infernal Call is knocked unconscious, all their summons die permanently. Could potentially avoid that by casting Infernal Call with a companion you rarely/never use though I haven't tried that. Will update if I feel the need to try it later.

I'm trying to change the battle music but replacing Persona 4/5 music with more fitting tracks and play it at random on the options menu but I dont know which track to replace and I cant play HCA files to identify which is which
