IMHO, not understanding and studying for a HAM radio license is like buying a firearm and never going to the range. The tech license should be easy for anyone. Sure GRMS has an easier entry level, but options are limited.

Clothing for the worst extremes in your local survival environment and then for the in between climates -- the lighter clothes act as layers in your extremes. Caches for the extremes.

Emp mitigation should be taken as seriously and treated as normally as having a circuit breaker and fuse box in your home and vehicle. I'd stay ahead of the curve, and start protection now before it becomes a scarcity, or in limited supply after people are at panic to get there hands on protection from EMP. There's a reason this is becoming such a frontloaded issue to our federal government. It's not a coincidence. Society's dependency on all things powered by electricity is beyond the scope of human comprehension. Go back 24 years ago and consider the societal reaction to something as simple as a software error that threatened our computer's clocks, yes, the y2k event. People were building bomb shelters, and preparing for the end. While y2k ended up being inconsequential, EMP is a real threat that is proven by science, and as mentioned in the podcast, has been one addressed by our military for over a decade. We have major wars going on in Asia and the Middle east, all of which the United States is involved in and involve countries with nuclear weapons. There is also an increasing amount of solar coronas leading to a CME, producing an event that would be truly devastating.

I used a machete for shearing Christmas trees for an entire summer one year. I got really good at sharpening them. But pretty much every row I'd have to resharpen the blade after shearing a few hundred trees. I have never touched a machete after that summer.

People don't even realize that their kids, their family, will slow them down. Both with capability, and due to caloric expenditures.

From timer 2:22 mins. I'm currently a 35 year old millennial, who loves computers. I'm from the Caribbean and my dad taught me how to use the hammer , scotch tape , and drill, screw drivers since I was 8 years old, the 12, 13,15, 20-22 years old before he died. When I went to electrical trade school in 2018 at 30 years old. I was shock 😲 to see 20 year Spanish and black guys who don't know how to use a drill and screw drivers I was like, oooooh my generation is sooo screwed. I don't wanna think about Gen Z and Gen Alpha. We need these hands on skills now more than ever. I can fix computers, AND I can do some electrical work as well if it comes down to it

For traveling in the woods I have a small backpack. I also have a small light weight mostly web vest which has 6 pockets. My vest can be worn over the shirt or under the shirt. Either way, quick access to whatever.

This video has no specific information on anything in your kit, your have your wants and needs but I dont know what those are besides several nylon pouches. You introduce a comprehensive first aid kit and other first aid items that you don't explain or show, and the comprehensive kit you say is covered in another video. First video I've seen of yours, feels like filler.

Would be interesting if there was a lever action, magazine fed rifle. Basically a bolt action but faster. If the accuracy is the same then maybe they would be more popular.

In a world where all your opponents will be rocking AKs/ARs and high power hunting rifles don’t be the guy that grabs a BB gun… all they gotta do is hide behind a decent tree or car door to defeat you… but their rifles will penetrate most if not all soft cover/concealment.

Dynamic devices usually work better than passive ones. Get a 5+ hp waterproof motor, 1750 rpm. Attach a lovejoy coupling and an 4 ft long shaft to the motor. Install a supporting bearing at the top attached to a much higher anchor point. Place the unit vertically, a few feet from the front door, and attach the naily garden hoses to opposite sides of the shaft one foot down from the top. Then disguise the entire thing as a Christmas decoration by adding lights to it. Place an arming switch that will close the circuit to the motor if the door is violently struck or opened, or if glass is broken. Electricity does the work and all you need to do is rearm the system and hose down the blood the next day. They won't come back and they won't complain to authorities, and there will not be a dead body in your yard or your house.

We're prepped for routine and seasonal, the occasional outage, and as a lifestyle setting us up for being a benefit to the community should the next Great Depression hit. We have the money to go on cruises, buy a motor home, but we are conservative with our finances. We enjoy what we are doing even the hard work and even the occasion crisis stuff is done is rewarding when completed. We garden and raise fruit, fish and fillet, shoot and reload, exercise regularly, have saved money and have it well distributed across investments. Today we took a neighbor to the shooting range for her first shots with her first pistol. I fixed a plumbing leak yesterday. The day before we finished planting the garden, setting up a trellis. Earlier this spring we planted 15 berry bushes and they are all still alive 6 weeks later. I've taken things apart, cleaned and reassembled them. My wife has run a kitchen and cooked meals for up to 300 people. I've been an engineer, a delivery driver, a short order cook. My wife has also been an EMT and worked hospice. We both read nonfiction regularly. history, how to, finance, religion and philosophy, science, engineering, medicine, and so on. Our tools get used regularly, from the hammer drill to the pliers, the paint roller to the pickax, the gun cleaning tools and the broom, the rototiller to the spading fork, from Excel to Outlook. We attend church; we help not only people at church, but others in our neighborhood, the widow that needed her lawn mowed the working woman with the bad back that needed her driveway cleared so she could get to work, the guy working out of town for months came home to a mowed lawn. Our produce gets shared fresh, dried or canned. We also have our art and music that we do. Crocheting, sewing, making primitive jewelry, playing mandolin and harmonica and singing. We love each other, support each other, talk regularly about anything. In our mid 60's this is the best time of our lives. Prepping is just a lifestyle, as some people have a lifestyle of travel or of going to bars and restaurants or working 65 hours a week. We enjoy our lifestyle. We are not thought of as crazy people, but of that couple that has the nice yard and garden, the guy that walks his dog year round, the woman who bakes the best bread, they guy that taught a neighborhood kid to fillet fish, the lady that makes the best jam. It is a good life. We wouldn't trade it for a trip to Europe, a Jimmy Buffett concert or a fancy new anything. I hope I am an inspiration to someone.

Dyeing PVC, Use Clear PVC cleaner and a "solvent dye" or "fuel dye". An eye dropper of dye concentrate in the four ounce can of clear cleaner. I've enjoyed watching you use things like PVC in unusual ways. Which brings me to a question, have you ever used the concrete test cylinders (4" dia by 8" long ) in landscaping or small project construction?. They are often available from test labs for free.
