I'm of the same mindset of basic simplicity with getting home . Grayl, food/electrolytes, poncho with swagman roll, along with my EDC knife, lighter, light, etc. (And socks of course). Keep it light and move with the intent of getting home. My get home bag is fairly small hydration pack with a few pockets and molle webbing. I can use the Grayl to fill the hydration bladder. I'm a truck driver, but at least I now work a job that keeps me within 75 miles of home.

If you had a business flight/trip and the airline lost your checked baggage 🧳 what would you have with you during an emp/grid down situation? In this scenario, you do not have your items from your checked luggage, which means no sharp objects ( no knives, saw, sharp tools etc) that are not allowed during the flight! This means you would not have anything tsa does not allow in the cabin. 3, 2,1. Go!
@phild80955 ай бұрын
The first thing I would want is solid shoes, the second thing I would want is regular practice carrying that pack, the third thing, not in the pack, my sidearm. I've been walking a rather large hunting dog for 46 months now and for a couple years have been rucking 20-27 pounds a bit over a thousand miles a year. Lessons I've learned,not just in the past 4 years, but many years of hiking 1) In the winter I wash a lot of clothes. You can't stay warm without long underwear or insulated overalls when the wind chill gets below -20. 2) In the summer I regularly wet down my boonie hat after watering the dog and soaking down his fur. A wet hat can keep your brain cooler on a hot day. 3) I used to get more miles our of a pair of Vasque boots. Seriously, if someone can point me to a comfortable medium weight medium stiffness hiking boot that will last more than 500 miles I'd appreciate it. 4) water will get you a long way. No need for snacks, no need to set up camp, just keep moving.

Outside on-body EDC; Poncho, Bottle (stainless steel), paracord. My EDC already includes a knife and lighter, so those are the things that extend needs a bit beyond that. You need a poncho to keep the rain off, or make a shelter, or carry things, etc. You need a bottle (not just a cup, because you can't hold much water in a cup while traveling) that you can boil water in if necessary. If you need a shelter, or for so many other things, paracord is something that is multi-use and necessary.

@andrewsteven8883 Have you check out those compressed disks of TP /PT? I’ve used the paper towel disks, & I thought they were pretty cool. Some of them get to be a pretty decent size, they’re far tougher than you’d think so they’re reusable, and for their final bow, they can be great TP. I have not tried the TP ones yet, but I figure they’ll be better than the potential accidental usage of poison ivy……. Been there, done that as a kid; time does NOT heal ALL WOUNDS - some it merely hides. 😉😂

if you're often more than 20 miles from your home, you need a mountain bicycle in your vehicle. Remove the front wheel, rotate the forks, remove the seat, pedals and handlebars and you'll be amazed at how compact a package a bicycle is. It will fit in the trunk of a VA bug, no problem. You can reassemble it in 10 minutes. 20 miles is an exhausting, all day hike for almost anyone.. It's 2 hours of leisurely pedaling (on pavement) or one hour of panicked pumping, on a bicycle. You've got to get home before everyone goes crazy (ie, before dark) if you dont, youll have to be evading groups of crazed people and that might mean it takse you 3-4 days to get home. By then, your home will probably be either looted or burned to the ground. You could easily get shot as people realize there's no more rule of law.

I no longer fly. Top 3 reasons 1. 9/11 (I will NOT travel where I cannot carry tools of self-protection...PERIOD!) 2. EDI now being foisted upon airlines so that you do not know if the pilots are qualified. 3. Airplanes falling from the sky due to planes not being safely constructed nor safely maintained. My life is not worth losing due to expediency of traveling from point A to point B.

Too early to see how dei will impact flight safety but it is currently the safest form of travel in the America. Turn your scanners on and see how many car wrecks occur within your reception range every day.

@@rogerjensen5277 For some reason people these days like to ignore the facts. You are free to think whatever you want. When travel time is similar I also prefer to drive. One has more in control and flexibility but I’m under no illusion that it’s any safer. The only thing I'd add is a small brew kit with lots of coffee, in a real situation you are not happy and don't always feel safe at night. Coffee is a morale booster and you will be sleep deprived so lots is needed. The other thing is things around keeping your feet in trim whatever they are for you. You're ex services so I wouldn't lecture you on foot care.

Dude all of you guys will die because you’re focusing on the normal. Of course people will have food,water/purifier, and socks/moleskin in their packs. But the problem is there will be bigger threats involved when things get ugly in this country. The most important things you need is security,medical, and protection. Everything you guys have is a must but if things got really bad the three things you have to have is a Ifak,body armor, and respiratory protection. For me it’s Blackscout Survival trauma kit, Safe Life Defense soft armor, and Parcel gas mask. The twin towers was a perfect example of what could happen and today things are way worse for multiple attacks. You guys are joking but in the end you guys aren’t just taking your survival items to make it when things get ugly. It’s EDC/pistol/ammo/rifle/mags, trauma for packing holes, and you better be ready for protection when things are coming with chaos. Running around in the woods trying to survive will not make it through. God bless y’all and Psalm 91🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
