@AlsopAndSons2 ай бұрын
Really good once I got the lighting right... that said, I need to try playing with some exposure settings to make it better. Plan on doing this for the next scanning video.
@mohammadmujammil55842 ай бұрын
@AlsopAndSons looking forward for next video. there is another scanner out there in market named simscan. If you can manage to get hands on that please try to make a comparison video between the two.
@Ak47ram2 ай бұрын
Some of the points are placed almost in a straight line. You need to zigzag it as much as you can. Also since the the chassis rails are far apart, you can place planks across and place targets on it. This way the volunetric accuracy would be much better rather than following around the rails. Blue laser is not as sensitive to lighting as such. Did you try increasing the exposure? Dark objects will need higher exposure.
@AlsopAndSons2 ай бұрын
Thanks for the tips, the issue with picking it up seems less to do with markers and more the exposure setting. When I did it in the dark, it picked them up no problem.
@MrBobby2 ай бұрын
21:33 you have to adjust the exposure with the buttons on the scanner or in the software or just put it on auto, helps to compensate for dark or light rooms

For me screen duplication on my smartphone don't work. Have you the same issu ? I don't see anything on your smartphone.
@AlsopAndSons2 ай бұрын
Probably because I had to speed it up so much it didn't show it well. I did get it to work. You have to have your phone on the same WiFi connection as the handle or what they call "Bridge". So you have your laptop on the Bridge WiFi and your phone on the Bridge WiFi - then you can scan the QR code in the Creality software. Also, you have to turn off any firewalls you have enabled on your laptop - or at least for the Creality Scan software. I also had to restart my laptop after I did that. It took a couple attempts, but after all that it connected on my phone via a web browser - which is basically a type of remote desktop session.

looking to do the same thing on a 997 but for a track car on the road course?, what do you think about the handling on track with this weight and performance difference?
@AlsopAndSons3 ай бұрын
Sounds like a really cool project, you'll have to keep me up to date! So I haven't tracked this car, but many other that LS swap do. As to weight, the LS is lighter than the original motor - not by a lot like 20-30 lbs. That said, I don't feel any difference with handling at all. In fact, I just took it out today and was commenting how it just feels like a stock Porsche from a handling and drive ability - mind you it has a lot more HP than stock. I wouldn't shy away at all if I were you from building an LS swapped track car, and maybe consider a few things like a engine oil cooler, maybe a different oil pan with more baffles, or even something more crazy like a dry sump setup - all standard track prep stuff.

Excellent videos. Am planning to LS swap my 996 now using the CPE kit. My county requires emissions inspections. So was curious how you handled the exhaust and catalytic converters? Did you retain factory O2 sensors? TIA
@AlsopAndSons6 ай бұрын
@@davewallen2678 thanks and good luck on your journey!! So for my car the emissions wasn’t an issue in my area and all I am running is O2 sensors after the exhaust manifolds (pre-cats) and no cats. You could easily install two cats where I did and x-pipe and install post-cat O2 sensors - which your tuner can then work with to get you into regulations. You may be able to run a tune to get approved and flash another tune after for performance - but that’s at your own legal risk. :)

@AlsopAndSons7 ай бұрын
@@atvideos5843 ah right on, been too long since I’ve been in the UK. At the time I pretty much got everything Chavis had besides the headers, 3rd radiator, and clutch. I just got better deals on those through my own network. If you see my recent update videos I did the cooling differently and designed my own mount brackets for a preferred look I wanted. So I could have saved a bit by not buying their cooling kit. Everything is great though and their wiring adapter makes it a lot easier.

I have a Chevy pickup, a vortecmax with this engine. It has a little bit of a vibration at idle that's just enough to be annoying. Is this normal? I've changed plugs and run RP oil. Helped a little, I run 91 fuel, which helps a little as well. Still shakes.
@AlsopAndSons8 ай бұрын
Doesn't sound normal. You could check the resistance on the plug wires to see if you have a bad wire - those are a cheap fix. Beyond that, I'd throw a scanner on it to see what it is saying before doing more expensive things like coils. One thing to also consider is motor mounts.

Love your videos on the Porsche/LS swap - thanks for taking the time to make & post them. Some curiosities - - Does the LS motor normally rotate in the correct direction for the swap, or did you have to work with that? - Do the standard installed Porsche radiators provide enough cooling for the LS? - Did you have any issues registering the vehicle or meeting emissions requirements? Thanks again - having owned a couple of Porsches, I think you and your sons are pioneering a worthwhile cause.
@AlsopAndSons10 ай бұрын
Everything works fine with the motor rotation etc. Some say the stock radiators work fine, I personally installed the Porsche 3rd radiator in the front to add some more volume of coolant. Where I am we don't have emissions standards anymore, so no problem there. Some people need to register the car in different States if you're in the US - but not sure about all that. Thanks for checking out the videos!
