Every deer taken over the hounds is a good deer, but some are a little more special and a little more memorable. You will not forget this one. He’s bloody nice! I still recall the morning I got my PB. The sound of the hounds on the opposite slope, the early light coming through the trees and the drops of dew falling through it…….. and the big boy wading around the bend in the river, thinking he’d outsmarted the hounds.

I typically don’t agree with hound hunting, more of a fair chase guy. But I enjoyed that edit, well done. Enjoy the trophy on the wall!
@peterwebb87323 ай бұрын
Hound-hunting is very much fair-chase. The quarry is pursued in the most natural manner, one which it is well-adapted to avoid, and which allows it to use all of its natural defensive abilities. A kill when hunting in this manner is far from a certainty.
@wheretoonext3 ай бұрын
100%! With all the technology that the modern stalker carries it’s probably less fair chase. I have often wondered if everyone in the crew went stalking instead of hounding would we get more deer per weekend? My feeling is we probably would. But it’s not about that at all it’s about working with the dogs and others to enjoy the bush. I enjoy both styles of hunting and we should definitely all stick together to protect each other and a common interest, Hunting.
@peterwebb87323 ай бұрын
@@wheretoonext With you all the way. It’s well to be aware of the advantages that technology gives us, including things like scent-blockers and long-range optics - both of which deny quarry the use of their natural senses. I’d also point out that the term “fair chase” arose amongst people for whom hunting with hounds was THE method.

Hound-hunting... AKA "Standing in the rain, listening to hounds that are running in the wrong direction." If it was easy, everyone would be doing it.
@gary4264 ай бұрын
Totally disagree with using dogs for deer. Using your own wits/skill to get deer is very rewarding not using dogs and cars.
@peterwebb87324 ай бұрын
Ignorance and prejudice on your part, do not make us wrong. There is far more hard work in keeping hounds than pulling your rifle out of the safe. You get to call off your hunt whenever you feel like it. We only get to finish when the dogs come out. You don't go any further than you feel comfortable. We go wherever the deer and hounds take us. You do you best to deny the deer the use of their primary senses and defensive behaviour. We hunt in a way that ensures that the deer knows we are coming. It is fair chase, and one of the oldest and most traditional forms of hunting. You do you, but sneering at others does not make you "better". 😢
@timebert94674 ай бұрын
Wits and skill🤣🤣 Are you just trolling?? Nothing more rewarding than training and working with good dogs. Take all of your stalking skills and multiply them by 3 or 4. I'd challenge you to even keep up Gary

@@timebert9467 This is just like some of the hunts in Africa where the hunter sits in a blind in comfort with food and drink and the game is driven towards them to shoot their trophy for the wall. Thats not hunting and neither is flushing game with dogs. Sorry to spoil your party.

Locking gates on most tracks in the peak of hunting season, they argue to protect tracks from arrogation But in reality GMA can increase game licence costs to cover track repairs. Aerial culling costs millions also doing this they leave carcasses in water ways, tracks, etc GMA laws and regulations don’t mean a thing for this lot feeding wild dogs , foxes etc with all dead deer. then comes 1080 for those animals. Who’s got this contracts? Corruption in Victoria is next level. Good hunting boys! Keep it up
