Going back to last year, or maybe even the year before, was it yourselves that started on a project upgrading an old shed. I think I remember you in a mini digger knocking old walls. How did that turn out? Were they new calf pens?

Why are you not 10 in 7 instead of 11 and 7.and do you find it better
@MCMilkingIt7 күн бұрын
We found it harder to hold production at the weekend with 2 OAD milkings back to back. With milking TAD on a Saturday, you have 2 TAD milkings back to back, which gives the cows a little boost. Might switch to 10 in 7 later, but for now, the 11in7 is working well.

@boertjejanvh3696 I don't know who did to be honest. I was in New Zealand on college work placement at that time. I say the drawings were mixed up or misinterpreted and that the fall should have been the other way.

Why do the vets put their arm in each cow to scan? In New Zealand the scanners are mounted on a flexible probe, much easier on the cow and the scanning technician

Would u consider pregnancy test at milk recording I would only scan the heifers less stressful on cows I think the reliability is roughly same
@MCMilkingIt10 күн бұрын
Advantage with the scanning is you know how far along they are so you have more accurate predicted calving dates. That is important to us as we divide cows be calving dates coming into calving season.

Is the position of the silage pit not blocking you feeding the cattle when its directly outside the feed barrier?
@MCMilkingIt15 күн бұрын
Yes but I can get away without that feeding space while the pit is there as I don't really need that space until winter. This will be used for buffer feeding in the autumn.

Hello, my dear sir, my name is Mounir from Morocco. Do you need a farm servant? I am looking for work on a cow farm. I have 11 years of experience in cow farms and in fodder, feeding cows, milking cows, cleaning the stable, planting green fodder and silage, driving agricultural machinery. I am patient at work and can bear all the burdens of work. I can work 7 days a week. All zero and plane expenses are at my personal expense. 🙏 Please help me, my dear sir. May God bless you. I hope you accept my request to work with you. Please accept my full thanks, gratitude and appreciation. MOUNIR QRIFA

On your gps it looks like you have the spreader set for just behind the tractor. The fertiliser is being thrown back around the same distance as the width so your line should be behind the tractor that far too. Might make it a small bit more accurate for you.

It's an Irish website where we can record grass covers, fertiliser use, milk sales, etc. It is very useful for managing the fields. You can also see growth rates in other parts of the country and predicted growth rates.

Farmers must have a lot of money these days, what’s wrong with a basic tractor that will just get the job done

It's all relative. A basic tractor might be perfect for one farmer while another might need a higher spec. Every farm is different
