I built a sbe lq4 with a set of 862's milled. 020 ported with 2.0" valves in hptuners maths i have seen 530tq 512hp. In a 02 1500 4x4 😂 built 4l60e with a 2500converter. It's waaayyy more than i was expecting 😮it's too fast for what it is.

I would have mentioned the barbell in the oil system and the plug behind the timing chain cover. Don't forget to install them if removed.

Great video. Seems like a package that would have a long service life. Curiosity has me wondering if a 95mm TB on the factory intake would have closed the gap a bit to the FAST, thinking the bigger displacement might be bottlenecked by the 90mm. Have you done any 408/416 setups with the recent Redhot or 400+ NA BTR cams?

Do you find it silly for automakers to put forged crankshafts, rather than install Quality con rods & a steel crank? A good nodular iron is far better than weak connecting rods. I've never understood the logic, not even profit wise.

@golenengineservice What does the 3/4 turn on the rocker bolt do? I understand on a traditional SBC this is how you set lifter preload, but on an LS, pushrod length determines preload and the rocker arm is set. Not trying to be a jerk, just to understand, thanks!
@Dragonfabb
@Dragonfabb 23 күн бұрын
Ls standard rockers are not adjustable like the old stuff. The only way to adjust ls rockers without a rocker with a screw is to change the pushrod. So he is measuring the preload of the rocker by the thread pitch of the bolt. The 3/4 from zero lash equals the preload on the lifter desired. ls rocker always sit flat to the head unlike older stuff that has a locking nut and can change the rocker hight

In for the build. I have been researching this very build for awhile. With my build, I've considered a different head. I feel anything with a 2.165" intake valve is just too much head for a daily truck looking for torque. Budgets usually determine what we get to play with. But, I'm very interested in the cam testing. In my research, I found a cam that I feel might produce more torque. It's the Howards 190315-08 (210/214, .595/.598 108+4). Personally, I'd would like to test the CamMotion Titan2, but with a 109+4, instead of their 112+4. Can't wait for your results. Thanks.

Do you have a problem with "Sewing Machine" noise on an LS? I own three of them (in truck / van no noise) and one that I upgraded (all OEM rotating assembly) for my Hot Rod, 1983 Camaro LQ9 6.0 Summit class 2 cam, chrome-molly push-rods, melling high volume oil pump, OEM rocker trunion upgrade, Cloyes roller timing chain. Car runs great, lots of power but, still that "clicking sound", I have re-checked torque on all rockers (22 lbs) twice on base circle, engine runs 55 LBS oil pressure (5w-30 Syn.) hot at idle. thoughts? Thanks.
@adamgolen2153
@adamgolen2153 3 ай бұрын
What is your lifter preload? With the Ls aluminum engines we have found that if you do not have 1 to 1 1/2 turns of preload and on the iron block 3/4 to 1 1/2 turn, your valve train will be louder than normal.

This is a great test ….But I’d like to see a test in car all else being equal ….LS3 intake vs the BTR which would provide a faster/quicker ET ? That’s what it boils down to….I know there are tons of variables….but are the 40ftlbs or so of torque loss at the bottom pre-5k worth the 20-30HP up top (till 7k)? That is the question……
@BEANS-O-MATICtransmissions

The CLEAR winner is the stg2 with either the LS3 or FAST, The DRAMATIC loss of torque is JUST not worth it ! You WILL feel that difference !

Great videos. I'll have to watch the first video again to see head specs but on a bigger engine like this where does the MSD Atomic LS3 stack up vs. FAST LS3? I know the LS7 crowd loves that intake.

So is this the end of the testing for the 416? IMO it's still way undercammed but it sounds like you don't think there's much to be gained by going larger.

If this is the V2 version of the BTR stage 2 LS3 cam, the specs are 221/24X, .624/.636, 112 LSA for those wondering.
