Are you sure that those are 85/15S pickups and not 58/15S pickups??
@VinceMGuitar6 сағат бұрын
This is a great sounding pickup. Can you clarify if this is actually a pickup or just a microphone? It looks like a magnetic sound hole pickup with a mic that blends but there doesn’t appear to have any blending capability and it certainly doesn’t sound like a mag pickup.

Ty for posting! Funny how some guitars just need certain strings. I love my Taylor 714 with phosphore bronze polywebs, my J45 with either the nickle bronze or 80/20 bronze Xseries and my Takamine G sounds crazy good with flattops, I even did my own video about flattops on that Takamine

I can't be bothered with amplifiers anymore, acoustic is just fine.❤

These takamines are great guitars that fit the player on the move to use and abuse without too much fuss when it’s wrecked. The pickup is great I think it holds up to modern pickups. Cedar/maple is an interesting combination and can give a different sound. I’d love to grab a 12 string version as a secondary guitar.

I have both a Custom 24 core and an SE Custom 24 - and I love them both. I actually got a better deal (relatively speaking) on the core than I did on the SE but, no matter, I didn't buy them as collector pieces, I bought them to have fun with and that's exactly what I'm doing.

Thanks for a great review. I was sceptical when these first hit. My 2021 arrives tomorrow, 2025, can't wait. I bought a Highway Parlor as a tele player thinking it would give me everything I was looking for at acoustic gigs but found myself going back to my Baja (big fan of the Mexi's) for the electric tones I needed in the 3 piece I play with swapping back and forth. With this guitar, I'm thinking I can reduce the bagage I carry and still get great tone!

curious what strings you ended up with? I'm going to try Martin Retro's 11's, 10's if I can get away with it. thanks for sharing

I have always preferred acoustic to electric. I love the deep, dynamic sound; it has such a rich tone; and also I grew up hearing my dad play acoustic so I’m totally biased.😅

I like acoustic guitars because they are self-contained. You don't need an amp or cables or electrical outlets in order to play them. You can play them in your bedroom or on top of a mountain.

You're not done. You need a strat neck.

The same thing happens when you lower your strings, stretch them out a little and retune them back up. You're welcome. Don't buy this droning box.

I'm kind of in the possible market for one of these and I came back to this video. It's funny that even with all of the repairs it's legitimately one of the best sounding (maybe even THE best) post '54 Gibson J I've heard in my research in the last few days
@johnnyd5294 күн бұрын
Sounds great but really how long is it going to last? If you have a problem with it after the warranty I hear it is very costly to repair. More like a throw away amp.

I LOVE a good acoustic guitar, but here is my list of the top 10 guitarists of all time along with the guitar most associated with them. Jimi Hendrix: Strat Eric Clapton: Strat Jimmy Page: Les Paul Stevie Ray Vaughan: Strat Carlos Santana: PRS Eddie Van Halen: Strat…ish Keith Richards: Tele B.B. King: ES 355 Chet Atkins: Gretsch Tommy Emmanuel: Maton You can argue with my list, but only one of these guys is known for playing primarily acoustic guitars. When it comes to playability, the engineering flexibility gained from escaping the built in limitations of an acoustic cannot be underestimated.

I just picked one up last night to try out Gibson before dropping the money on a J-45. I’m more of a Taylor fan boy (I own a 314ce Builder’s Edition), but I love the J-45 sound. I agree that this feels a lot like a Martin X series in terms of how it looks and physically feels. While it doesn’t have the same amount of bass as a J-45, it still has more than the Taylor, and the highs are a lot more tame. It also still has some of that iconic Gibson growl. Over all, I’ve been happy with it. The smaller body is also nice. Sometimes, I feel like my 314 is just a little too large.

Take a Fender 65 what ever. They're still around 60 years later. If they're not working well? In most cases they can be repaired. I would be totally wrong here, seems like a lot of digital electronics don't last that long. Personally, I don't see Tone Master lasting 60 years. But?? What do I know? 🤪

The density of wood changes the way strings vibrate as the magnets pickup the strings. Different strums for different chums. I love performing acoustic by myself or in a chamber group. I also love ripping on electric guitar or bass in an electrified band.

It seems you just have a preference for one material over another. Wood is not inherently better than metal. It's just different

You're preaching to the choir. But I don't think any D28 can duplicate the Gretsch Chet Adkins sound and vice versa. A place and a purpose for all. or is that the point.

Because the amp is like 90 percent, the pedals 7 percent and the 3 percent is the guitar itself.
@indianaslim49716 күн бұрын
I sense snobbery in this post, 98% of listeners can't tell the difference between a stock Mexican Tele and modded high dollar Tele when played by an accomplished player. Why bother comparing apples to oranges, an acoustic guitar will never play some Jeff Beck or Hendrix accurately, while an electric can play clean and come reasonably close to sounding like an acoustic.

@chucklakeridge79446 күн бұрын
I gave up trying to find a pickup that sounds like the guitar and lean towards something that I can shape with EQ/Compression into something pleasant. Passive humbucker sound holes are working best for me. None came close, and few sounded good at all. The Baggs Element VTC was the closest to my ear, but not all that close really. The Taylor ES2 was the worst (except for that Fender. What a bad idea that concept was)
