This test is a mystery for me, as I find a lot of benchmarks online, saying 40 kg is very weak. I'm 40 yo, and I squeeze 40 kg (+- 2) with both hands. I went to the gym for 22 years (not trying to look like a gorilla, just trying to work my muscles constantly). I'm able to do 2 or 3 weighted pullups with added 30kg to my own 82kg. I can dangle off the bar for more than 1 minute. I would think that these feats are related to hand grip and are more impressive than 90% of the male population. So are any of you guys here, never working out in the gym and squeezing 55 kg or something? Even went to two doctors, both said, in their experience, the average guy squeezes less than 30kg. Still, internet shows I should be squeezing 60 kg to be above average.

Different dynamometers show different numbers, your grip is average if you're using the same dynamometer as in the video.

@oaiaferoce Don't believe everything you read on the internet. I have a friend who is a rehab physio specialising in hand rehab after people have had operations. This is usually a long process. She has given me some exercises to do at home or at the gym, but, and this is the kicker, the average male hands strength tested on one of the testers she uses is about 32-34 kilograms. Seems low, but that is the average for most males now. So what the 2 doctors told you is correct and very, very, very few men could squeeze 60 KG on one of these testers. For your age she said 35+ is the norm, but it also depends on your health and size and your fitness. If you can do 40KG+ with both hands that is good, most certainly not weak. 💯👍
@Athletophy
@Athletophy Жыл бұрын
The benchmarks I've seen give a range of 35 to 55kg as "normal" for a 40 year old. So you are fine. Also adjusting the width of the gripper can make a difference, as can technique and simply how you are feeling at the time. On a bad day my result was at least 12kg worse than on a good day (it was a good day in the recent video I made with the same dynamometer as in this video...) That said I am surprised at what the doctors said about the average guy. They are probably seeing guys in worse health than average, and maybe skewed towards older demographics. I've only tested maybe 5 guys, mostly around my age ie 40s. Mostly they've got 50 something kg, but to be fair to the average guy they're bigger than average. The only adult guy that got less than 30 was my 82 year old dad who, although very fit for his age, has carpal tunnel and some arthritis in his fingers. He got 27kg. Though I reckon on a good day he could get over 30. All the women I tested apart from one got in the 30s kg, mostly low 30s.
@Athletophy
@Athletophy Жыл бұрын
@@cudgee7144 Very interesting, thanks for detailing what your friend said. Mid 30s kg does sound low as an average. Maybe that's the new normal for guys that don't do any physical labour or exercise. But actually I see you went on to say that 35+ kg is the normal range for a 40 year old guy, which matches what I've seen.

@@Athletophy You have got it one my friend. Sitting on a computer or scrolling a mobile device does nothing for hand/grip strength. Most males don't do any sort of physical exercise any more. A lot struggle to bend over to do up their shoe laces. Have a good weekend. 😁

For those mocking the kid he's clearly anorexic or something. A good grip strength is associated with good testosterone levels and when you're that underweight we can see why one has a weaker grip than the average healthy person.

Are you a Good Person? Let’s check and see! Have you ever stolen? (Even if it’s something really small) Have you ever lied? Or have you ever looked with lust ? Now, have you ever taken the Lord's Name in vain? Have you ever hated someone?If you’ve ever done any of those things, you would be either a liar, a thief, an adulterer,(for looking with lust. See Matthew 5:28), a blasphemer(for taking Gods Name in vain), a murderer (for hating someone. See 1 John 3:15) or maybe even all of them. And that was only 5 of the Ten Commandments. Therefore God’s Standard Is Very High. The Bible Even Says That If We’ve Just Broken One Law We’re Guilty Of Breaking Them All. (James 2:10) So we have all sinned against God and therefore deserve death.(Romans 3:23 & 6:23)That’s why A Savior Was Sent; Jesus Christ, to die for the sins of The World And Then He Rose On The 3rd Day . Through His Sacrifice He Paid The Fine for our sins, and made Atonement for the sins Of The World. Now we can be made new by accepting The Gift of Salvation. In order to accept This Gift, we must first Repent. This is a change of mind about sin (from an embrace of sin to rejection of sin) and a Turning to God. Once you Repent, you can then turn to FAITH/TRUST in the Savior. A person who has truly Repented of their sin and has Trust in Christ will give evidence of a changed Life. Therefore, as a Result of Salvation you’ll then produce Good Works and the Fruit of Salvation. (Reading the Word, Acts of Kindness, readiness to help, to serve, to give of oneself, The Fruits of the Spirit, etc.) You aren’t Saved by doing Good Works, but you can then produce Good Works once you are Saved.

YOu can see the ribs clearly underneath the tape. The WAIST IS BELOW THE RIBS - ALWAYS. Here is the definition of how to locate the waist en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Waist This is a great example of erroneous information. Sorry guys, but you're incorrect here in terms of tape placement for waist measurement.
