Workhorse Pits has had my money since January 3, 2023 (411 days ago) and I still don't have my 1969. I promise to write a glowing review of the product itself if it lives up to its reputed quality. I will have nothing good to say, however, about this company's failure to even remotely make good on its delivery estimates. "Worth the wait" shouldn't be an excuse to prioritize moving, building a better facility, opening a retail store, etc. while the very customers who bankrolled your expansion are put at the end of the line.

@@rhec_junior_9122 I did get a final production email, a completed email, a ready to ship email, etc. but each was late, then later, then later still, and now instead of getting it by mid November as originally estimated (including final production and shipping) here we are almost March. They do say it's been shipped now, but I still don't have it.

You got delivered correct? I do know the northwest was near impassible travel for five weeks. We also did have a year wait for the smokers, but I believe you have received your 1969. I will say since this is a public forum, that no dealer came before any customer. Every single dealer currently getting smokers placed orders in August 2023 or before (and placed 12 months of orders). The dealers are also waiting. Last, our owner bank rolled our company and the $11 million dollar campus buildout from his own investment. Every dollar from a customer goes to material and labor of their smoker. However, we did not to raise prices in Nov 2021 when steel jumped 4X due to a 400% increase of steel due to the pandemic. We thought it would go back down fast. Since Nov 2021 we have sold every smoker and our owner has taken nearly $2 million dollar in losses on the chin. For a 1969 it was about a $700 straight loss. I am saying this because customers that have purchased the past two years would probably assume the company is "bank rolling." In truth, we have sold a discounted offset that performs like no other in the marketplace and the owner has contributed hundreds of dollars to every purchase.

@@WorkhorsePits Yes, I have it now. It's an amazing pit that totally lives up to the hype. The best I've ever seen. Built like a tank, beautiful, functional. Great in every way. And thank you for your explanation here. It helps a lot. Additionally, Ashley called me yesterday and we had a good conversation. I appreciate her humble honesty and eagerness to give me y'all's perspective on things. Our talk, and your note above, helps me sympathize with your efforts to build a solid company. I do want to say, though, that my frustration about this purchase would have been reduced a lot if y'all had been more proactive about communication along the way, not waiting for me to reach out when there were numerous delays. All in all, I'm truly glad I went with Workhorse instead of other options, but y'all could make a purchase like this superlative in every way with a few emails along the way proactively getting ahead of your customers' concerns.

I finally received my 1975-t yesterday. Took a little longer than it was supposed too. 364 days to be exact. And being a welder for 16 years the guys welding these pits take pride in there work. You can always tell a welder who cares about the product he’s putting out. Was I a fan of the year wait no not really. However this was far worth the wait i couldn’t be happier with this Pitt. And the customer service at work horse Ashley was fantastic at answering all my questions and dojng her best to get my Pitt here for our Christmas party this weekend which she pulled off. And the delivery driver Andrew just as good as the rest of the company has been. I would recommend work horse to anyone I know as long as they’re willing to wait for a great product that will last a lifetime. Well done WorkHorse exceeded my expectations.

I think it’s shitty that those of us waiting for a pit are being told these people have “been in line” all along. I personally don’t believe that and I feel like Workhorse has allowed these retailers to “jump the line”. They’ll deny that I’m sure but it’s not a good look and not what I expected from this company when I chose to order from them instead of Millscale. Very disappointed. Considering canceling my order and getting a Millscale. They can have it to my door in a month. Gross.

I really didn’t think workhorse needed to use the retailer model. First of all, middlemen have to be paid. Will the retail pits cost more? Or will the overall price go up in general to cover their cut? Secondly, what benefit is there to having salespeople at a retail store directing people to Workhorse Pits besides driving demand even higher? The effect of this on demand might lessen it a little every time a delivery is made to retailers, but overall only increased production can shorten wait times. Putting any item in a retail environment is about increasing demand. This model is used by the long time established players like Medow Creek and Yoder. It's a longevity move. And it might mean higher prices. Still not convinced that this move is worthwhile.

Slide out bottom racks are a brisket killer. You pull the bottom rack out into outside air after trying to maintain a very steady temperature and this will spell disaster for a brisket. So, since Brisket Is King, we don't offer a slide out bottom grate, only a slide out top grate. In addition, there is some heavy science as to why our offsets are as popular as they are. Burning even is due to hundreds of variables, but we like the grate position where it is. We have a firebox grease catch.
