He was a legend. Freddie Mills actually bought the restaurant from my family , he would come in and ask for their blessing before a fight . It was called the Anglo American restaurant. I think it was 143 Charring cross rd

Boxing is all about levels. Someone can look fantastic at one level, then ordinary at a higher level, and get battered at a higher level again. Ali>Bugner>Dunn>Fields>McLean.

Sad ending regardless. I don't know the history of this way of suicide. It's like something you'd see on a old B+W movie. In these old films you'd see rifiels beside the dead body used in suicide. You don't see hand guns. I'm not sure if this is a Hollywood play on the truth, artistic licence, it switches the real tool used. If I were him and was going to use a rifle I would have taughtn he would use it properly being X Army. Barrel in the mouth making sure of death. Doing it the eye made no sense. If it was suicide why not a handgun he could easily put his hands on on. He could have used a hosepipe in the window clean, painless and fairly quick. It's a strange case. Besides that he was a good brawler his own unorthodox no style of boxing. He would have made a great bare knuckle fighter down at the 5 points back in the day. He actually looked and fought like Rocky Marciano and Rocky Graziano and the Pimpinel remember him. He's in good company upstairs. He's probably undisputed champ of all the Galaxies, CHAMP 🥊✌️☘️

Just shows the difference in professional boxing, because Richard was classified as a journeyman compared to the likes of Ali, George foreman and all the rest of the champions and contenders, But he had made the most of his boxing skills so fair play to him . and for the unlicensed fighters still very tuff guys with a lot of bottle hard men.

And in the middle of that madness you get Keith Lemon in a fuckin bingo ad(advertisement). I wonder after watching that 'fight' if you can think it strange that Roy was in Broadmoor for years on account of his mental health? Just wired a bit differently. Shaw did Ok financially after finishing his long custodial sentence and lived in good health until his 80's. I hope I do too.
