Another person made the comment that he actually flew on the accident aircraft and stated it seemed old and used with lots of little things wrong? Makes you think maybe the boots that help with ice on the wings were non functional?

That could be true becuase even the flightradar stated that they were not able to track its altitude properly which indicates poor maintainance or faulty and old parts over there aswell.

Just a small correction: the airplane did not crash in a rural area. It's quite the opposite, it crashed into a private residential area (multiple houses nearby that form a complex restricted to a limited group of residents). This gated residential area where the plane crashed is located in a neighborhood within the Vinhedo city urban perimeter, so in addition to the fact that downtown is near, there are also other multiple neighborhoods pretty close to the crash site. Despite that the crash caused damage to a house, nobody on the ground was hurt.

just a heads up it’s not the worst crash in 17 years- another ATR crash just a year and a half ago had a couple more casualties. The year before, China Eastern Flight 5735 crashed with 132 Casualties. In 2020, 97 died in a PIA crash. That same year, a Ukrainian International Airlines 737 was shot down in Iran, causing 132 casualties. I could list dozens more over the 2010s, some having even more casualties.

The worst accident was with a big airplane (AirFrance) in 2009, that crashed into the Atlantic ocean after leaving Rio de Janeiro here in Brazil, killing more than 220 people. The external sensors froze, what caused other problems.

Voepass (previously called »Passaredo«) is one of the oldest Brazilian airlines, flying since 1995. That´s their first crash with loss of life in all those years. Their most used planes are the the ATR like the one that crashed. Based on its history we can´t call the aircraft insecure, when the investigation comes to an end we will know.

1:57 You can see on the right the photo of the aircraft which was taken by Danilo Santos. He was the actual Captain of the flight on that day. He was not scheduled to fly on that day, but the company called him and he got on the plane. Captain Danilo Santos Romano. May he rest in peace.

I checked the flight when it crashed on flight radar, checked the replay and it was pretty sad. I didn’t watch the flight live on flight radar (cause I wouldn’t know that it would crash). It has been named the worst crash for commercial airliner for this year. Also the “flat spin” started at 1:22 PM. Not 2:10 PM.
