08:00 IMHO one should not always challenge a bluff instantly. If you know that your opponent is committed to bluffing a captain or duke, then try to get into the 1vs1 against him and only then call him out for instant win if he keeps using it. Caveat: he may stop using that card if he knows that a guaranteed economic victory will also almost guarantee being called out as a desperate last chance.

Killing your own minions to get points at a base is a really cool strategy. That might work well with ants being killed. It would be nice to see a tutorial on how to manage our cards so that we can have flexibility, which allows us to bring our best cards to the top of the deck.

"Sharing" I think is the best strategy and deception. Practice to place a tile not oriented to form a complete area and then build to form with your opponent.

to avoid double fail, when 2 or more evil guys are on mission, the one closest to the leader (it can often be leader) will drop fail and everyone else will drop success.

One strategy I really enjoy using when playing as a bad guy, is using the lady of the lake on another bad guy and telling everyone that they are a bad guy. That creates a staged conflict between us, in which we accuse each other, leading the good guys to believe that one of us is a good guy, and the other is a bad guy! The player who comes out of this with everyone's trust can then backstab the others at the finish line, earning the bad guys a sneaky victory! This strategy works best when used sparingly, because if your group is familiar with this technique, it might just lead everyone to suspect both players of being bad guys. Even so, it is one of my favourite strategies just because of how confusing it is!

What are good counter picks? I’m assuming overwhelming decks (Robots and alike) because they would be outpaced at far as base security and maybe factions like steampunks and tornadoes for being able to move my minions?

im having trouble believing that the plot rush strategy has ever worked for anyone. its takes aeons to lay down all the plots and irrigate all of them + there's always the possibility that your opponents will lay down the wrong plot in a spot where you would have needed something else. good luck starting all over!

Blocking is a dangerous strategy if there are 3+ players. It often puts both you and the subject of the blocking behind and the others ahead. It's only good in 2-player games and even then usually break-even at best.
@DavidDouglasToth3 жыл бұрын
I agree. I play 4 player with my wife and kids. Kids don’t try to block, hard to block anyone single handed. 45 trains isn’t enough to optimize my score and sabotage stuff random far flung routes.
@ThePeterDislikeShow3 жыл бұрын
The tradeoff for taking 5 or 6 train routes is that you're connecting fewer cities than if you placed a bunch of 2 or 3 train routes. This means that further draws of the destination cards are likely to need much more work to do.

Hello, thank you very much for this wonderful channel! I'm a newbie to the board game business. Can I ask a quick question? From the consumers' perspective, can they easily know which games are self-published, and do they care about whether a game is labeled as self-published or not? If I'm a designer and I use a small publishing company (founded by a couple of game enthusiasts) to publish my game, can I still call myself a self-publisher?

Don't forget that if you build resource cards then others will probably be trading for them with you. Every trade gives you more money, which counts towards your score in the end. Also everyone should build a little bit of science, IMO, because if you don't then all the cards get left for the one person who is doing science, and they can really clean up.

I introduced this game to my brothers and their wives. At the end of the first age they were all complaining how hard it was, and that it didn't make any sense. By the end of the game, they were all in love with the game. I did write a guide to playing it, which is easier to understand than the rule book, although I still rely on the rulebook from time to time.

I used to be hopeless at winning this game. I adapted my strategy to completing the two destinations I have from the start of the game, then I bring the game to an end very quickly by simply putting down 6s in a way that gets me the longest train. It doesn't always work out, but I win almost every time now. I think I've won 9 out of my last 10 now

What about a strategy being to take away quests that might be big points for your opponents? Whether just claiming the quest for yourself or resetting the quests and getting one from the new deal?
@kingrex19314 жыл бұрын
The most important short route in the game is the Seattle to Portland. If someone else takes it you have to place three trains that take up 15 cars, which is one third of your pieces, to go from Seattle to Portland. It might make sense to claim this spot even if you don't need it to block others from having it. I think it's generally a bad idea to not take the wild cards, they are so powerful. Unless you see two cards that you need face up, you should grab the wild card. By the way the link posted in the description takes you to a screen to purchase Norton anti-virus.

I've played a few solo games and I do enjoy some of them. It's hard to start it up sometimes but I also have a hard time finding people who want to play a game in any consistency. Especially games with more of a legacy mechanic.

As someone who has played a lot of tabletop games (mostly warhammer) involving 2d6 rolls, I'm always surprised when others don't realise how much effect the probability distribution has on the result. There are a lot of people out there who believe that a 12 is just as likely as a 7. In fact there's a 1/6 chance of a 7 and only a 1/36 chance of a 12. That's why those knight cards are so important!
