I don’t know what my Spanish accent is but it’s probably a mixture. There is no such thing as neutral or standard Spanish as I once thought. And I suppose that’s true of every language. With Spanish being spoken in so many different countries and even in different regions within countries the variety is amazing. In Latin America there is so much influence from all the different indigenous languages as well.

Me parece genial que hayas querido estudiar y poder hablar en español. Por eso quisiera dejar un mensaje para ti y tu audiencia, pues es el mensaje más importante que podrán escuchar en la vida, por favor lean hasta el final, y que fue el mensaje que comenzó a difundirse por todo el mundo hace 2000 años atrás, y que hoy en China también se difunde, así como en los paises de habla hispana también. Nosotros los seres humanos somos seres corruptos llenos de injusticias, maldad, engaño e iniquidad. Nosotros somos criaturas caídas malvadas y perversas, y pensamos que somos buenas personas pero esto es una mentira que nos creemos nosotros mismos. ¿No me crees? Es fácil saber que somos malos. Solo necesitas ser honesto y reconocer estas cosas que te voy a nombrar. Recuerda ser siempre honesto contigo mismo y apelo a tu conciencia. Todos hemos dicho mentiras a lo largo de toda nuestra vida. Todos hemos robado algo por pequeño que fuese o sin importancia aparente, también incluye las veces que descargaste ilegalmente música pirata, películas, juegos, programas informáticos, etc. Todos nosotros hemos caído en inmoralidad sexual, llámese tener sexo antes del matrimonio, engañar a tu cónyuge, mirar pornografía, mirar con lujuria o deseo corrompido a otra persona en la calle, en redes sociales, etc. Todos nosotros hemos deshonrado a nuestros padres en alguna ocasión. Todos hemos odiado a alguien en nuestro corazón, si aborreces a tu hermano eso es equivalente a ser un homicida delante de Dios. Estas cosas que mencioné forman parte de la Ley de Dios, los 10 mandamientos o Ley Moral, la cuál todos hemos roto sin excepción alguna, y el que diga que no el tal es un completo mentiroso y la verdad no esta en el. Por eso nosotros somos culpables, verdaderos criminales, pecadores, que cometieron crímenes contra Dios y nuestros prójimos con toda intención y consientes de nuestra maldad, y por tanto somos inexcusables de esto. Dios es nuestro Creador, y es infinitamente Santo, Bueno y Justo. El Señor Dios de Israel aborrece la maldad humana y la castiga. Por eso El ha establecido un día en el cuál juzgará a todos los seres humanos sin excepción alguna por todas las cosas que hemos hecho en esta tierra, el llamado Día del Juicio Final. Evidentemente nosotros desde ya vamos directo a la condenación eterna y la Ira de Dios perpetua por habernos rebelado y hecho maldades, porque la Ley de Dios rompimos. Merecemos totalmente la Ira Justa y Santa de Dios, el castigo y la condenación eterna, el infierno y el tormento eterno. Y no hay absolutamente nada que podamos hacer nosotros para evitar este destino merecido que tenemos, estamos desde ya perdidos absolutamente para siempre. Pero aquí hay un punto de quiebre, algo que Dios hizo. Dios es muy pero muy grande en Misericordia. El ya sabía de antemano que todos nosotros los seres humanos estaríamos todos perdidos para siempre. Por eso, Dios Padre mandó a Su Hijo Amado Jesucristo nuestro Señor a salvarnos. El Dios de Israel mismo se hizo humano, Jesús de Nazaret, el Mesías de Israel, y El mismo bajo del cielo para salvarnos, muriendo por nosotros, por nuestros pecados. El Señor Jesucristo en la cruz tomó toda la Ira y el castigo que nosotros merecíamos genuinamente por nuestros pecados y maldad humana y El murió en nuestro lugar, El murió por nuestros pecados. El Señor Jesucristo pago la deuda impagable que nosotros teníamos con la infinita Justicia de Dios. Es por Su Gracia que somos salvos no por ninguna obra humana nuestra, pues nosotros solo merecíamos la condenación eterna y nada más. De modo que cuándo tu crees en Cristo Jesús y Su persona, en toda Su obra de Salvación y Redención es que tu tienes salvación, redención, perdón de pecados, vida eterna y reconciliación con Dios solo mediante Cristo Jesús. El Señor Jesucristo estuvo muerto pero resucitó al tercer día y hoy está sentado a la diestra de Dios Padre allá en los cielos pero El Señor Jesucristo pronto volverá a la tierra como el Juez Supremo y El erradicará toda la maldad humana para siempre. Por eso, rogamos y exhortamos, en amor y verdad a que se arrepientan de toda su maldad y pecados, que crean en El Señor Jesucristo y Su Evangelio y le sigan a El. Dejen todo el pecado y no lo practiquen mas, pues Dios aborrece la maldad humana y el pecado solo trae muerte y destrucción. Es una contradicción hacerse llamar cristiano y vivir una vida en pecado y desobediencia explicita a Dios. Recuerden además que si mueren, pasan al Juicio de Dios. Si no han creído, seguido y obedecido al Señor Jesucristo, lamentablemente después del Juicio ustedes terminarán en la condenación eterna. Y ustedes pueden morir hoy mismo en cualquier instante e ir a ese lugar, del cuál no hay retorno. Por eso con gran sentido de urgencia y extrema seriedad atiendan al mensaje del Evangelio pues tú vida y alma dependen de ello. Sin Cristo Jesús están perdidos para siempre y la condenación eterna esta a las puertas. Por eso vengan a Cristo, El es nuestro Creador y Único Salvador y Esperanza. I am an Arab and after studying English for more than 10 years in school it started to become easy and boring and I can even watch and understand without translation so I wanted to try learning Spanish and it was the third most widely spoken language and I did well in the seven months because I can understand 70% of what you are saying

I'm a lifelong student of languages, and like you, I'm a real perfectionist about pronunciation. It takes thousands of hours of practice to get anywhere near a native accent, and it is clear that you must have worked very hard on your English pronunciation. I heard only a small handful of very small mistakes, and nothing at all that would make it hard for a native speaker of English to understand you. For example, when you said "academic" you dropped the second "a" so it sounded more like *acdemic. However, this is a trivial error, and there was no question whatsoever about what you were trying to say. My point here is not to denigrate your accomplishment, which is hugely impressive, but is rather to emphasize how good your English really is by pointing out explicitly how few errors you make, and how small they really are. I also want to give you a hint on where you still have a very tiny Chinese accent. As a language student myself I know how hard it is to get precise feedback from native speakers, because no one wants to be "rude", so they just tell you how great your accent is, sometimes even when they can hardly understand you. In your case, you still have a very slight tendency to do what most Mandarin speakers do in English, which is to occasionally drop a sound that does not fit naturally into the sound system of Mandarin. However, I want to stress that this is very rare in your speech, on the order of once a minute, and not several times in each sentence, which is typical of most Mandarin speakers in English. You spoke for five minutes, and I only heard about five such errors. Also, on the positive side, you never dropped a final consonant, which most Mandarin speakers do all the time in English. On a much subtler level, the rhythm of your speech sounds just a trifle choppy compared to the more drawled speech of native speakers. For an extreme example of this drawl try listening to people from the Southern United States, but then notice that all English speakers have some tendency to do the same thing. I realize that terms like "choppy" and "drawled" are not very precise linguistic terms, but what I mean is that even unstressed syllables have a longer duration than you sometimes give them, and stressed syllables tend to be much longer in comparison to unstressed syllables. Again, you are very close to native, and there is no trouble whatsoever in understanding anything you say, but this is the sort of subtle detail that keeps you from sounding perfectly native. Another way to say this is that a Mandarin accent can make one sound like someone speaking English in a bit of a rush, whereas most of the time English speakers sound very relaxed, as though they have lots of time to enunciate everything without trying to compress their speech for the sake of brevity. Again, this is a very slight tendency on your part, so native speakers might feel that you are not really a native speaker, but would not be able to say exactly why they feel that way, because the difference is so subtle. Finally, I can only wish that the little bit of Mandarin that I know were anywhere near as fluent as your English is. Even after some months of listening practice I still do not recognize Mandarin tones reliably, much less reproduce them with reliable accuracy, even though I use software tools like Praat to visualize the tone contours of a sentence very precisely. So, when I say that I am impressed by your English, I really mean it. I know from direct experience how big the phonological differences between Mandarin and English really are. So, again, my most sincere congratulations.

It came to my attention recently just how dire the situation was for Manchu and languages in its family tree. I was reading something about Emperor Kangxi and went down a rabbit hole. I’ve ended up here, looking for any further details on the language. Thank you, this was interesting. I wonder how difficult it would be to learn? As In, availability of resources and so on. What textbooks would you personally recommend. I doubt I will be able to make it anywhere close to fluency, however I want to make an attempt. I want to also say, seeing people so passionate for critically endangered languages like this warms my heart. Lovely stuff
