My first impulse would be "waves? No." But i bought soothe 2 times. And stopped buying oeksound plugins after spiff and having to buy soothe twice (because the first version just didn't work, so they fixed it and named it -2-). Now this looks a bit like Soothe with a touch of the bonkers expensive (for what it is) Bloom. And I'd have to update it 4 times after buying to get to the price of Bloom, or three times to reach my price for a functioning Soothe... The end of the story, i don't know, maybe "waves no" 😂

The tutorial said to try opening the dialogue isolate module and adjust the Noise Gate. But mine doesn't even have a dialogue isolate module or a Noise Gate. And if it does have it I never found it. I've been looking for it for a year. It came with a bundle when I bought the izotope mastering software. Update Why didn't the tutorial just tell me to open Pro Tools? I give this product one thumb up the ass

I guess there will be a big rumour after this plugin, but when I see some brands publicizing their new vst compressor or analog synth and I see this, I understand this is something really new and doesn't happen often. Misuse is round the corner, but musical usage within the law has a lot of new possibilities. All in all I did backvocals from the main singer with Melodyne many years ago, now I think we all agree that backvocals with different timbres are more effective than the main singer backing herself.

Wow. There's a bit of Soothe in there but it has the 4 bands of shaping like Bloom as well. It copies Smart Eq too with the analysis and has a standard Eq on top of it all. It also does a healthy dose of Smooth Operator. I like the interface better than all of them. $39 to replace all of this? Ouch. Let's see how it sounds...

I'm still not convinced that this is a Sooth killer, Sooth is special and I still keep it on my wishlist, even though it costs 200 dollar, which hopefully will drop a bit. The multiband functionallity of equator gives away that equator is not like Sooth, Sooth does a much better job of removing harshness! The same could be said about Waves Silk when I watched the review. Instead of trying to beat Sooth 2 , Waves should focus on getting awesome plugins emulations on the market! They have been messing around too much lately with plugin concepts which look aweful and modern and their unhealthy focus on A.I is also raising red flags! I would ratrher see studio gear emulations of famous units being crafted so people can get the gear their like but can't afford.

Question: Why does Kiive think we need another saturation plugin? Answer: Yes! They've done it again!

One day I'm going to put all my saturation plugins together on one track at full power and see what kind of noise it makes.

Music sounded great during the '70s through the '90s. We haven't "needed" any new tools since.
@lucasturney42692 күн бұрын
Really? I'm not gonna fully tear into this comment because it's a tired stance, but the main thing that bothers me about these puritanical hot takes is that they don't just try to sell that everything *after Year/Decade-X is shit, it insinuates that everything *previous was wonderful. Don't play-how much of the music from the 70s-90s still sounded like shit even with those amazing analogue tools? Rhetorical, but I made my point.
@mthomas10912 күн бұрын
@@lucasturney4269I think the point was more about the tools. Even this plugin: it’s an emulation of pre-2000’s tools🤷♂️. It’s not “needed”. It already existed.

I have various resonance suppressors and don't much like them. It's worth remembering that actual musical instruments consist of resonance generators. On synthetic instruments they are more useful. IMHO they need to be used minimally and with caution to avoid producing nasty synthetic noises....

I know i might sound like a loop by now but i was asking Dev`s for to add a SC filter by deffault on any saturation plugin. Imagine that some asked me „why?“ This one sounds good. Am not in my GAS feeling right now but maybe later. Need to eat first
@whitenoisestudio2 күн бұрын
seems like a no brainer to use sidechain for saturation right. That's basically what I normally do with a multiband saturation - leave th elow end untouched - saturate at higher frequencies. BTW, dont eat too many onions, gives you an other kind of GAS.
@saardean44812 күн бұрын
@@whitenoisestudio It indeed is a nobrainer. Bu imagine getting asked „Why do you wish for it“ by the people developing these tools. I was like „fantasy left the conversation“ To the other part,,, what do you mean? Onions4Life !!

I make experiential electric music 'without' any vocals would Equator work for me or would it not be needed?
@whitenoisestudio2 күн бұрын
Sure, but if you ''need'' a plugin like Equator fully depends on how many nasty resonances at all you need to fix.

Since I'm into DSP programming stuff myself, I got an entirely different view of the question "Do we need another XY plugin". Because it is like making music itself, it's not just economics to make money, it's fun, it's passion and pure satisfaction to learn something new and if things work as intended. At the same time you could ask the question "Do we need another song on Spotify?"
@whitenoisestudio2 күн бұрын
I know, its click baity. But it resonates with a lot of people. I see plugin as tools and I think competition is good.

It looks like it's somewhere between the Antares Tube (long discontinued) plugin and the P42 Climax. Less tweakable than the latter, more than the former. Probably fine for anyone in need of tube saturation looking for a reasonably priced option.

You know, I judge plugins based on how they sound and work, I'm not biased. If the outcome doesnt suit someones own opinions, that's fine. But I am very aware of how some developers shape and tune their own fanbases ;-)

It's a nice plugin.looks great Sounds good. However it's just 1 of the 100s of saturation plugins out there. I have 6 already and 1 of them is their excellent saturation plugin. Of course the plugin collector in me wants to jump and get it but I will show some discipline and move on

Smart move. My tactic is to first download a trial and try it for a little while and decide later if i want to keep it or not. Takes care nicely of any G.A.S.
