Also, what determines the green/yellow abilities when it doesn't specify a number in the power source step? Kinda scratching my head over that part.

First time I played SCRPG, I made a magical hero who was a phantom in the Realm of Discord who kinda became a real girl due to the absolute nonsense in there when the Freedom Four had to go beat up on Gloomweaver again. She was called Figment, and her abilities revolved around lots of Illusions and suggestions. I especially had fun with the Whispers principle for her, ash she was still tied to Discord, though she ended up tied to another realm altogether due to the shenanigans in our game that involved a demon cult who ended up summoning another cosmos-quaking super-entity the DM invented for the game. I had a ton of fun with this character, especially as she was a reluctant mentor to the other character I tried out who wasn't quite as useful but still kinda fun who was a super super strong boy who got powered by a relic during his night job as a museum janitor protecting the place from a minor nuisance villain's mooks in the area.

I'm starting a campaign with my friends today and this video helped immensely, thank you!

I'll switch to Tales of the Valiant once support for the Black Flag system on Foundry VTT is out of beta, there is support for creating new subclasses on a website similar to DNDBeyond, and there is a good online character creator that supports these custom subclasses. Also, Foundry needs a module to import characters from this tool. I'm hoping this happens soon.

Thks is fantastic actually. My mom's a huge Survivor superfan who's always wanted to go on the show, so this would be a fun one shot to run with my parents (perhaps as a Power Couples special season of survivor). I wouldn't really be using their system per se but drawing inspiration from it would help springboard my own homebrew. I like the idea of Production meddling with things and if you watch episodes of the show they actually have fantastic "battle maps" with hundreds of skill challenges / obstacle courses and reward challenges that it would be a ton of fun to make. Thanks for sharing, it's got me started on a fantastic homebrew version of this that I'm excited to run for my parents to introduce them to TTRPGs :)

I really appreciate your walk though in character generation for this RPG. I have the PDF version of this game and have been debating whether to game master or play it. BattleTech RPG is way to complicated [or crunchy] in that it has a bunch of modifiers and such. Do you plan on doing actual play examples of this game? Just curious.

I'm really tempted to get this, especially as it's not expensive, but from all the videos I've watched as reviews, I get the impression the game doesn't come with any scenarios in the book to play through. That it's all randomized via dice rolls. Which is fine. But do any complimentary books exist which might contain preset aventures or campaigns? Similar to stargrave or frostgrave's complimentary books.

Pretty much a better designed 5E, which is good but not really what I want personally. I also don't like how some classes are significantly worse than their PHB 2024 counterparts, specifically the monk

Thanks for the review. I think this game has a huge potential and I will say I was slightly disappointed by the number of starting subclasses as well. Other than that, it feels like the design of the game and book was really well thought out and laid out well.
