Thanks, I love ingenuity. Question does that spring keep it on all the time and then you pull the cable to shut it off.? I think I’m gonna go ahead and purchase a kit. I seen him on eBay starting at around $30 maybe going all the way up to over $80 on eBay just wondering what the quality of these kits are. I love the idea of getting rid of the solenoid, not having to have the relay and given me more room under there.

@@TheRitchieLeeShow yeah the setup was spring loaded so when I pulled the cable, after the engine cut out it would just release back into a fuel-on position. I put a relatively strong spring on there just to make sure I wouldn't have any problems with it sticking.

Those welders were used in the shipyards during WWll. I've got one that my dad got in 1951 when we first got electricity in rural Montana. They weigh a ton, and have a duty cycle that won't quit. I've always been told the missing link, (some Mid States don't have it), was an arc stabilizer. Just what I've heard, not saying it's gospel. It's my go to welder.

@bargainbear1483
@bargainbear1483 3 жыл бұрын
Make sure you have power at the starter. I'd probe the power feed wire with a test probe while someone inside is turning the key. If you do, your new starter might be bad. If you dont, you either have a break somewhere in your power supply cable (I've had that happen on a cummins) or you probably have a bad ignition switch.

Another option is to rig it up the same way you do here but use a choke cable. I used the Edelbrock brand cable and it has a clean look to it and is just mounted on the lower left of my dash by my off road light switches. It looks clean and I can take the keys out and let my truck warm up or stay running in the winter without worrying about someone stealing it or a kid putting it in gear.

300 AMP can be carbon torch, scarfing, and resurfacing hard faces on plow and scraper blades, grader blades and such. It was during a time of growth after WWII US manufacturing was slowly winding down from the war effort. Also, the US was still supported very heavily by small farm America and stuff had to get done. The US as well as the World has populated to unreal numbers as well as technology. You can now buy a welder that will do all this thing did and it will be the size of a large car battery as well as an inverter.

*Update* so at the time of this video, I was unaware that this shutoff was available on amazon for $30. They are expensive as a dealer item, but cheap on amazon. I would either do this as a temporary fix or shut it off by hand by opening the hood and manually doing it until the new one came. Unless you just like feeling like you're driving an old manual shutoff tractor, in which case, this is the way to go 😊

Lenco still makes machine plugs(NOT Miller plugs). I just bought some for less than $8 each from weldingsupply. That being said, those may be even larger than machine plugs. If they are, take an old one to a local machine shop and have them duplicate it from a suitable brass alloy.

What is the difference between a secondary air injection head and a non secondary air injection head..? I swapped over a 2001 4.0 non secondary air injection into my 2003 which is a secondary air injection and the only thing that I swapped over from the 2003 block to 2001 was the intake manifold and then I blocked off all the lines for the secondary air injection and now I'm getting a popping noise in the intake manifold. do you know what could be causing this... And thanks in advance

300 amps would be for very large rod, 1/4" diameter or larger. Alternatively, it could be used for carbon arc gouging if one had a gouging torch and a large enough air compressor.

Welders usually don’t work all that well at their highest settings, and the duty cycle is low. You don’t buy a welder that’s maxed out at 100 amps if you plan to weld at 100 amps.
