lying to make too much hype will eventually lead to too much desparation and sadness, even quitting tech as a career for so many people. sadly that is the case for many youtube channel, and even online courses.

is software consultant is programming
@FaradayAcademy4 ай бұрын
Yes, I think the majority of all software consulting work is programming for billable hours. I’ve also had clients hire me to train or pair program with their employees using certain technologies. Some clients also hire for general advice around building a certain type of thing or helping with specific architecture needs; which is more about gathering information about their systems and drawing up some diagrams, and then writing a proposal or design doc.

Thank you Gwen. You said that one of the typical coding interview processes is to review a pull request. Do you think it may be a good idea if you do a video (or videos) on sample pull requests that we may typically encounter in the interview process? <3

Hello, I was looking at your video channel. We may be helping a company that uses secure images to increase supply chain security and help cloud native development. Would you be willing to help try their software, make a video, and help show devs how to use their tools? This is not an offer, but just to start a conversation about your willingness to take on sponsorship. Please provide me with your email if you are interested. You'd have a chance to look at their technology and decide if it's the type of software that you'd be interested in covering in your channel.

Ditched it a while ago. It's basically a decent autocomplete but also source of bugs. If you're learning, personally suggest not bothering.
@FaradayAcademy6 ай бұрын
I think that with 4 and 4o now, it's really good for a lot of things and speeds up dev work. I think Github copilot autocomplete is not great though and it doesn't actually help me that much.
@FaradayAcademy6 ай бұрын
Also, if you are just asking it for answers, it's not great for learning. But IMO if you are asking it to be a tutor for learning, it can actually be helpful.

It is important to understand that Microservices is not a type of architecture, but a type of service that is part of a more general SOA architecture. So the best thing would be to put Service-Based Architecture, this can generate confusion in people who think that everything can be done with microservices and it is only a specific pattern

Thank you for the straightforward talk, I love your sense of humility and sense of acceptance, many of us in the industry when they bomb an interview they come hard on themselves and it impacts their self confidence and ability to package oneself properly before the next opportunity, so thank you for being so honest..

I've been using ChatGPT for about a year, I love it, and I learn from it quite a bit especially when it comments the code it produces, to me it makes sense because I want to see how it thinks, but I wasn't aware of the configuration features you highlighted here, thank you.

Hey Gwen!! I started learning how to code exactly 2yrs ago in May 2022, and am happy to report that I just got an offer after a successful 6 months internship in a big african finacial company. Now I can calm down a little and learn the CS concepts deeply to level up. Thank you for everything you do for us self-taught developers.
