Isn't Christianity just idolatry 2.0? I read Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John and nowhere did I see Jesus say to worship him and wait for him to come back to take away people's sins. What I got out of it was Jesus died to martyr himself so people would choose the path he took, of sacrifice for others since everyone else lives for in the moment pleasures given to them by other people.

Don't get me wrong, I believe in God and in the sacrifice Jesus made. I just don't think worshipping him has led to making the world a better place since everyone still wants to sin instead of choosing a better path

I do find it interesting that the people who don't understand faith or religion, or even people who are very religious sometimes will be hostile towards others who don't share similar views. We are supposed to all be connected on a human level. Just remember to be kind

This can be used to justify leaving capitalism. (Especially cause many of the people Scooby doo faced were crooked businessmen)

"If you wanna watch telly you should watch Scooby-Doo. That show was so cool. Cause every time there was a church with a ghoul or a ghost in a school, they looked beneath the mask, and what was inside? Ahhh! The fucking janitor or the dude who ran the water slide. Because throughout history, every mystery, ever solved, has turned out to be: not magic...Does the idea that might not be a super natural so blow your hippie noodle that you'd rather just stand in a fog of your inability to Google?" -Tim Minchin

I agree with the message, but I think that that's not a good way to make this point. For example, under capitalism, the capitalists have direct influence on the system and are always working to revert the changes as much as possible, in Scooby doo the villain doesn't have any, or as good as no influence on the trap Edit: spelling

So you're saying tweaking capitalism isn't the answer, the right answer is a whole new system. I agree.

I'll double down capitalism, communism and monarchies / dictatorship all also sucks. I my world there would be multiple changes. First: Universal basic income no questions asked Second: The person that gets the biggest paycheck (management, ceo, owner and those kind of people) can only get 10 times more than the least earning person in the same company Third: should you earn more than 10 millions in 1 year 100% of that surplus goes straight to the state and to keep people motivated you and maybe a set number of staff get to vote where the money is going to be used. Example: You own any company which is highly successful so you made 22 million € last year🎉. 10 million is your max allowed free sum so 12 million go to the country you live in. Since you have enough money, a loving husband or wife, multiple houses etc. you decide to give the voting permissions to your staff. All in all you have 12 people working for you so every staff member can vote over 1 million € government spending. 1 employee likes cars and puts his vote into street. 2 employees live in a city and 1 lost his license so they don't need cars but public transportation which is what they vote. 6 employees have kids so 4 of them vote for education and 2 into health 2 dudes are really into the latest discoveries and vote to fund science and lastly one dude likes to take pics of old medieval architecture so he votes to put the money into cultural sector to preserve these buildings and keep museums up. Oh and if you frigg up cuz ur a b. Umhole which tried to be greedy stealing every bodies cash u have to pay out of your pocket and the basic income you get is at leat tied to a job provided by gov that would stop that corruption pretty soon I guess.

Or you can look at Wily E Coyote. Dude invents an entirely new trap every time and keeps getting the same results.
@jackofdragons3896
@jackofdragons3896 13 күн бұрын
Well that's another thing entirely. Coyote always fails at his traps because he never learns why the last one failed. He just keeps trying and hoping it sticks, never internalizing that the road runner defies the logic he's using. It's like using the quadratic formula on an English test. The problem is in a different category to the solution you are trying to use, and just trying different solutions is never going to work if you don't understand the problem.

paul embodies kindness? have you read the NT?? he told a slave to go back to his owner. he said women aren't to speak or hold a position higher than a man. that's not kind. faking curiosity and "confusion" is kind to you? why can't you just be honest? christian's aren't open to evidence and facts. so even if i explained how i used to be a devout christian who graduated seminary but then i learned science for the first time and the evidence and facts led me to realize i did not have sufficient evidence for belief in a god... even if i explained this carefully to you... you would say 1. i was never a christian to begin with and 2. that science, facts, evidence, logic, aren't persuasive to you. and i would agree... faith requires a leap over evidence and logic... it requires that you ignore reality and truth. but i came to a place where my allegiance to truth and reality were greater than my allegiance to mythology. i have continued to study theology, christian history, and especially ancient mesopotamia and ancient egypt. these studies have further proven the mythological origins of the christian scriptures. christian's have all sorts of crazy explanations for the cricifictiom and resurrection of inanna, of the virgin birth of boris, of the enuma elish, the epic of gilgamesh. some say demons/satan planted those mythologies, like satan planted the dinosaur bones and made up the laws of physics so that dinosaurs date to millions of years not 6,000yrs ago. the fact is that christian's have took hard to make their mythology make sense. and christian's are both willing to and must ignore science and archeology and anthropology in order to believe. their allegiance is not to truth. and at the end of the day, you aren't really listening. you aren't willing to investigate your own religion. you aren't willing to peer behind the curtain and you lack the courage to follow truth to the ends of the earth. it was a very difficult and painful process to lose my faith. but it requires courage and allegiance to truth above all. and we won't even get into the violence of the old testament, the endorsement of slavery, the taking of young women as sex slaves by israel, the violence toward women. the murder of entire people groups. the endorsement of child sacrifice. the references to multiple gods. the borrowed mythologies from mesopotamia. at the end of the day you haven't thoroughly investigated your own belief system. did jesus die for neanderthals? or do you just deny that neanderthals were human beings? we know of at least 13 different species of hominids and we carry their dna in our own bodies. why does the scripture never make reference to these other hominids? the time to believe something is when there is sufficient evidence and christianity lacks evidence. it is only blind belief. and to deny that denies hebrews 11. you ought to spend time investigating what you believe.
