If you’ve read through the Bible you’ve inevitably come across passages where God wants to be the loving husband to His people. God uses words like faithful, jealous, committed, loving and even calls the church the Bride of Christ. These terms are used throughout the Bible, and often we overlook them as hyperbole, when they actually are marriage words, words of commitment and a desire to be close to His people.
Vermon Pierre, author of “Dearly Beloved,” details how the analogy of marriage fits how God wants to be with His people. He looks at nine attributes of marriage including presence, perseverance, conflict, intimacy and jealousy to connect them with the relationship God has with his followers.
Vermon is the founding pastor of the multicultural Roosevelt Community Church in Phoenix, Arizona. The church is dedicated to bringing people of all backgrounds, socio-economics, and walks-of-life into community as they follow Jesus together.
This podcast will help you understand the deep, pursuing love that God has for you, and will encourage you as we strive to build bridges in our community.
