What an awesome thing! The only limitations I can see is the distance between the projector, and the background. And the sound of the fan inside the projector. You deserve another beer for this one!
@mrdogpoopstudios7 күн бұрын
The distance could be a few feet to maybe 30, but the further you go, the bigger the projection. We were at about 18' from the wall. The fan is not bad, I was wearing a Lav right next to it, so you could hear it, typically your talent wont be near the fan or the projector. You could always replace the fan with a quieter modern muffin fan if it is a problem. Or the bulb with an LED and shut the fan off. but it is really cool what you can do with it, we were really surprised once we started playing with it.

Hey homie loving the channel! Please keep to up. Also random question, what’s the length of the track ends for the movmax dolly? Bought the tray and I don’t know how long of a metal bar to buy for the track ends. Thanks and your content is awesome!
@mrdogpoopstudios9 күн бұрын
The movmax tracks are 12" on center, so you have to drill the holes 12" apart. as long as you have at least enough to do that, any length is fine. Ours are cut at 14" which is perfect if you don't want any overhang. We are currently working on a video of how to use your track assembly as a vehicle hood and roof rig by adding suction cups. It probably wont be done until next month, but it will give you more uses for the track assembly. Glad to hear you like the content, we really enjoy doing it.

@mrdogpoopstudios18 күн бұрын
There are only so many people that need the information so we don't have many views. But we like doing them. As for locking, I have not seen that on cheaper dollies. You might be able to buy an older dolly, Vinten, Cartoni, ITE or O'conner or something high end that has that function. I have a few Cartoni P-20s that do that but they are $7,000 each. But sometimes you can find a used dolly for under $200 on ebay that can lock wheels into a position.

@mrdogpoopstudiosАй бұрын
Yeah, there is that. But it is cheap, so not a big deal. We have wrapped 300 watt street lights and the cellophane did wrinkle a bit, but was fine for the shoot. Obviously, if you keep it further away, you wont have an issue. Just leave enough space to cool. And don't put it in front of Tungsten lights or HMI of course. On the lower wattage lights, we had no problem. It is not as resilient as gels, but it is technically shrink wrap, so high heat could affect it or distort it somewhat.

You'll probably want to be using directional mics on that shoot however.

I don't make money from KZbin either, luckily I made money from Dog Poop and I can afford this stuff now. I love making the videos, but it does not pay. As for breaking legs, we are a bit more passive on that. We were thing cement shoes or just nailing his feet to the floor. Actually the MOVO lavs were great until we started getting more people on set. Then we started losing time because of interference. Nothing like paying 20 people to sit around waiting for the noise to go away on the lavs.

Pipe dimension please and from what online store ? Amazon ?
@mrdogpoopstudios2 ай бұрын
you can use any pipe from 1.25" OD to almost 2" OD. Speed rail is usually 1.25 or 1.5 aluminum schedule 40 pipe. You can get it at most metal supply places like Metal Supermarkets or you can use electrical conduit from Home Depot, Lowes or any electrical supply house. Pretty much any pipe will work as long as it is smooth.
@andrewcarnes552 ай бұрын
A few questions: What are the dimensions of your aluminum plate? Are the rails aluminum speed rails or just basic aluminum rails?
@mrdogpoopstudios2 ай бұрын
I think the plate was 12 inches by 12 inches. There is no such thing as speed rail. Speed rail is just schedule 40 aluminum pipe. You could certainly get pipe with ID OD that are different than schedule 40, but we are using schedule 40 1.25 and 1.50. I did order 1.25 schedule 40 pipe and they sent me 1.25 OD pipe which is not the speedrail size, so I sent it back. So, yes, you can get pipe with different ID and OD with different properties. But the standard is 1.25 schedule 40 which is actually 1.66" OD and 1.38" ID. It is confusing, but that is the size of speed rail.

Honestly, I have always used cheap $40 fluid heads because I am not usually behind the camera and most shots are static. I bought a Sachtler ACE XL Fluid Head and it did not fit on an of my equipment because the ball tightening handle was too long. Ordered a $40 shorter handle on amazon and it did not tighten enough. So eventually I just cut the handle with a hacksaw and now we use it quite a bit. That is my first experience with a counterbalance head. It's nice, but I am all for whatever gets the job done. Unfortunately, regular lights (not video lights) are dependent on good clean power. We use them quite a bit and even use the variable transformers to dim them and have not seen any flicker. But we do get some flicker from my LED overhead lights but that could be because they are old.

Great review! Will the anti-tip wheels work with the middle support? Will it hit the middle support as you pass by?
@mrdogpoopstudios3 ай бұрын
They will hit the middle support. But you can get it without wheels and have it long enough to pass by the middle support. If your rails are heavy enough, you wont need a middle support even at 10' with 30+ lbs. Rather than schedule 40 pipe, you can use schedule 80 which is much heavier and can support more of a load. But most people only use 4-5 feet of rail and that wont bend even with very heavy loads.
