The fact that something good (the floor cut) can come out of a horrible situation is a blessing in disguise for the Stato. The DNA of the burnt HQ will live on in other cars. Consider it an organ donor. If this was 30 years ago nobody would have cared what happened to that HQ. They were raced, smashed, demo-derbied, wrapped around power poles….. it’s only now with so few left that are affordable, that people cry over them. But really, who’s going to try and rebuild a burnt shell like that? The owner made the right decision.

Hey bud, mine is still a project unfortunately so I can't tell you with any experience which way to go. I was young when I started so I went the super pro bushes way to tighten everything up. Now I would use rubber. But like I said I have no actual experience. As for pushing/ pulling the bushes I just hit things until they came out, and then a home made puller. I did note that when pulling in more so than pushing out the pressed steel arms started to bend. So as another subscriber suggested, cut up some pipe to bridge the gap between the 2 bits of the arm. My other suggestion would be to actually brace also those c sections and stiffen everything up. (Do the welding before fitting the new bushes). Or think about tubular arms. The other thing to think about is replacing the chassis with an RTS version which I am considering doing with mine. Apparently the only differences are a bit of bracing and suspension pickup points, but it makes a heap of difference apparently.
@The-State-of-it
@The-State-of-it 20 күн бұрын
Cheers mate, yeah there is a bit of work needing done where the bolts go through to the chassis, slightly bent and bit of rust. One of the things I have to consider is not modifying anything from how it was factory otherwise when I do compliance, anything not factory become a big song and dance and needs to be certified. Cheers for the info, some helpful stuff 👍
@mikeette2518
@mikeette2518 21 күн бұрын
Also don't do up the bolts that hold the suspension bushings in place until the car is on the ground. If the bolts are tightened when the suspension is hanging rude hight will have the bushes loaded and they wont last very long. Personally I run rubbers ones in street cars. Getting the alugnment right is more important, factory settings in a HQ are awful. Designed not to go round corners.

i'd suggest stay with the rubber bushes better for ride and less road noise and will out last nolathane main thing to remember is when fitting the bushes is use a bar to stop the arm bending in the bottom bushes use a piece of pipe cut into a "C" to insert between the area where the bush fits to stop it crushing arm i found nolathane bushes were noisy and dont last

Nolathane red bushes are firmer and might be the ones that go squeaky after some time, just lubricate them if this happens. SuperPro is best choice all round good replacement bushes as a mechanic its my choice for fords and commodores. Can just paint over them if you're wondering in black.

The nolathane bushes firm everything up. Rubber bushes will last a bit longer and are nice and soft. Superpro are what the Ford territory and Falcon guys prefer. If you want a firm ride the urethane bushes. Original ride then rubber. Noticed you have king springs in there. They are firmer than factory. As for the bolts and frame. Soak with degreaser from super cheap as it is cheaper than penetration oil. Does basically the same thing. Degrease the whole frame and power wash it. Then look at what you want to do. Most guys 2k them black.
