Yes, you're correct. I loved his book facing and living in a concentration camp and surviving to tell his story. Fortunately, Victor Frankel survived to tell his story from the power of understanding human nature. Spinoza's Ethics when studied and understood will give that power of our mind's endeavor to understand the laws that determine our desires and emotions and become free from emotional bondage.

John, it's almost impossible to admit that you don't know. The male ego is too sensitive for such admission. "As far as I know" implies that you are not certain. I am certain, I have studied the nature of the mind for over 50 years. Most of society will agree with you. Unfortunately, human nature is ignorant of their nature and believe that they have free will. As I mention in my video, the brain is an organ that stores information and it helps regulate all the systems of the body. Neuroscientist imagine the brain is the mind. Yet, Spinoza, a 17th century philosopher explains it very clearly in his Ethics. Look it up, study it; unfortunately because of inertia and complacency, you wont' apply yourself because too much mental effort is required. Mankind follows instinctively through his 5 senses and follows the path of least resistance. The belief in free will is a great obstacle to true knowledge. You feel and believe that you understand, and that is the problem. Reason and intuition are required to grasp what I understand and communicate in my videos. And thank you for your comment.

If you want to understand it, there's an excellent introductory book to his Ethics called "The Spirit of Spinoza: Healing the Mind" by Neal Grossman, in the first part of it he explains the concept of Spinoza's God.

In another, I love the Gurdjieff of system. I was part of it in the Dominican Republic under Jose Reyes, but if we follow the premise that all life is suffering, the people in power who are the Democrats are creating misery. Inflation of economy can be fixed. But they are unwinding to do anything about it. Lowering taxes is not only beneficial for the rich and goes all the way down and hires more people create more jobs much more richness, and gets people out of poverty that is what you don’t understand

Thank you for your thoughts. The mind is a thinking thing. If the mind's thinking doesn't include feelings or emotions, then the thoughts are abstract and disconnected with their nature. If the ideas in the mind that includes an emotion then this is a state of understanding that includes reason and intuition. The mind and body act as one unit. I hope this helps.

The most interesting thing about Sapolsky's work in neuroscience, endricronology, primatology, and evolutioary biology, to me, is that he, in his book "Behave", confirms a great deal of what Mr. Gurdgieff alluded to in his trilogy "Beelzebub's Tales to His Grandson". This confirms for me that his encounter with the Sarmoung Brother's ; [describef in his other work "Meetings with Remarkable Men"] was, in fact, also authentic, as he could not have just skimmed it from the BonTon literature of his day and that then the "fragments of an unknown teaching" which he aquired from them and subsequently taught, were then of course also authentic. Their are so many parallels between the two that, and as they are more contemporary in nature, I wonder if Spinoza, as fine as he was is as relevant. You are however the first to put them all together as far as I know.Something i have just begun musing upon quite recently. Most excellent sir! Are you also, by any chance familiar with a Mr. Deropp and his book "the Warrors Way'? I am off to visit your site! HiHo! P.S. I must add that the good Dr.S is not a phycisist by his own humble admission, although he certainly could be if he wished to. Thank You for this. It was most gratifying.

I found Gurdjieff as a great introduction to the work that I do; however, he has his limitation of the true nature of man and of God. Spinoza is very clear, he explains in his Ethics, that the more you understand your emotions the more you'll understand God. Self-observation from the level of ego goes nowhere. I know by practice that when you surrender to you pain, hate, and anger, when triggered by expectations that were not met, then journaling the experience, the law of the mind will be awakened. You see, God or Nature constitutes the essence of your mind. In reality, your awakened mind is a part of this infinite non-anthropomorphic Beings intelligence.

I am so grateful for coming across your post! I found it very interesting, and would love to hear more. I will definitely check out your site. One thing i recently determined, in my belief, is the " greatest form of power,and control, is of ones self." This, r3flecting on the change in society, aswell as my personal experience with abuse, and mainly related to Narcism, and its increase as well as its growing notability, and its affects throughout society. (Something to discuss another time.) As far as GOD, i believe similar to what you described, there is not A, one, or right or wrong. Yes, a master, leader,ruler,CREATOR, of ALL, but not specifically individually, or intentionally specific, yet, just as important, valued, and responsible for. (Chain reaction, evolution, reproduction....you get my point.) Cause and effect is a HUGE STAPLE, a concrete universal law, much like up down, in out.....they are laws, rules, TRUTHS, that can't be denied or defied, yheybare the foundation. Many different aspects, environment, culture, education, social, economic, play a big part of shaping individuals, or determining our destiny, BUT, thats where FREE WILL, comes into play, BUT, my most important aspect i feel thst has b3en overlooked and disregarded, is INTENTION. I BELIEVE, the meaning amd purpose of life, and all the answers we seek, are very very simple, and have been and are available to us, since creation. The EARTH, our MOTHER, (from which we are created from, and retun to )the only known, self creating, and sustainable planet, provides all we need to survive, and thrive, and prosper. Yet, we rather seek an alternative, than invest in our only resoce, and provider. Our choices, ultimately,are what shape us, BUT, ITS THE INTENTION, THE reason, root to our core, the one thing that droves is to DO, that we sometimes can never answer, and will never underestimate. To each their own, as we arrive, we shall depart. It is then, we face judgement, or, determine ones value, your worth, if your good,bad, going up, or down. I think creativity and spontaneity (or to have a body capacble for creativity) one may have to learn to jump out of rational-overloaded-mind yet if one has to structure or make something beneficial for oneself other than inward peace (such as to make money with it unless maybe an actor or Jackson Pollock etc :) ) then a bit of rational mind help is also needed. But most are too much rational-minded and even comes with ideas of creativity that is within rational mind like 'steal like an artist' or imitiate hardowrkingly or technical-expertising or too much skill but no love or even calls people with love as useless losers etc.

Our own: presence, sentience, being, the sense of 'am here', non biological, awareness+conscience/knowing+power of intent; similar to the presence that we are within a dream. Zero dimensional and outside of spacetime. All the rest is just a (potentially) regenerating chemical reaction of the DNA class. Nervous systems must capture a spirit at birth by radiating a bidirectional field of mind-body consciousness as a lure, which binds spirits having sensual intents. The spirit is required to perform I/O for the nervous system: reading consciousness with awareness, filtering with conscience, and optionally writing back to consciousness to initiate thought or muscular movement or other actions in a dream. It's not a matter of contemplation, it can be known by direct experience. True knowledge (Spinoza). Right: I agree that conscience/instinct+reason have a synergy that develop (or undermine) each other. And this forms the basis for the development of virtue, or its destruction, as the case may be.

In this age of Tiktok, it is more evident now of the degredation of self confidence or approval. I mean, today I was instantly horrified with this awareness when I seen a a KZbin page with hundreds of young girls doing makeup tutorials. Right then I was struck with a deep sadness from seeing all the people trying to impress others with their physical features by showing them how to look alike and less of the individual...all looking the same, painting the face...to the same songs even. Again, thank you for educating folks on this.

And like Greg, I also heard about you Lewis in one of Martin Butler's videos, actually someone left a comment under that video and mentioned you when someone asked something like who was Martin's teacher. And yeah I also found Martin by an accident, just saw his youtube video titled Spiritual Rehab in my recommended and clicked on it. I'm really grateful that I came upon both of you guys, the things I learned and I'm still learning really helped me a lot. The ability to sense and understand your emotions is a priceless thing. I also read both of Martin's books and your book as well Lewis and applying the practices from them in my life. I also saw your series of videos about journaling on Tiktok where i follow you and decided to try it. It helped me to see some of my desires i wasn't aware of. I'm not journaling anymore at the moment, but i'll probably start doing it again in future. Just wanted to leave a comment, I though you might like to hear that there are more of us who heard about you from your student Martin 🙂

I'm not clear about your question; however I will do my best in answering what I think you are communicating. To become a passenger is a process. you must want something of a higher quality that you posses. we are all programmed as children, how to speak, foods to eat, things to enjoy, etc. all your desires are programmed and determined.
