Not a hit against Cory, because I've learned so much from him. But a heavy thanks to @Thomasprague441 for noting the difference. You cause me to have do a bit more research and now I really understand the different between the two. And I think, thats what learning on you tube classes and comparing these videos classes are intended for. Making us learn. And think Cory or anyone lease will appreciate that. It should be totally Ok to add correctness to any comment if it's going to make the learning content better or easier. Also I really loving the interactiveness as far as people commenting with various point of knowledge and updates. This video prep corse is really making people get in involve and respond with positive comments. It really helps with learning. Thanks to all of you TECHs for caring enough to responded. You are not dishing the content, your are helping to make it better, thereby making Cory's prep better. I'm actually taking some notes from the comments section.

Ive been watching a ton of prep videos for the test and you my friend are far and beyond in regards to simplicity and understanding. I feel like many of these guys who are "prepping" us students are more interested in conveying what they know in a "look at me" fashion. You break this down to perfection and for that...thank you.

PSIA is pounds per square inch ABSOLUTE (not atmospheric). As stated in the video, psig is pounds per square inch gauge. Unless calibrated to do otherwise, all gauges even outside of HVAC applications normally measure pressure above or below atmospheric pressure (about 14.7 psi). The low pressure gauge is called "compound" because it measures both positive pressure and negative pressure (suction). That is, it is a pressure and vacuum gauge combined; hence, "compound." The high pressure gauge cannot measure suction (negative pressure). That is why it is not considered a compound gauge.

If you’re hitting zero and not holding that contactor in then that system does not have pressure switches to protect that compressor

Agreed. This video makes a nice summary for anyone preparing for an EPA Section 608 exam, but there are several points out-of-date, misstated (e.g. audio mistaken but visual correct), and a few significant errors. A good study technique requires you to work through multiple sources, so you should be able to identify the errors in your parallel reading.

Finally got it up and running. The only delays we had was because we realized we needed some extra parts (I’ll list that below) kzbin.infoUgkxihMYiJNXcHdbH-7ihymsLz61l7jVyb5O . So we have a loft where our current hvac just couldn’t seem to keep cool during the summer. We have been using a window unit since we bought this house over 6 years ago (all the houses in this neighborhood were built in the 80’s and majority of the houses built like ours use a window unit). I hate window units because they are just so noisy and the one we had really only cools one side of the loft. I had contemplated upgrading our current HVAC, but with all the rising prices these days, it would take years before saving up enough to do that. With the advice of my father-in-law (used to run an HVAC business), he recommended we get an inverter instead. We thought we bought everything we needed, but there were just a few other parts we didn’t anticipate needing (which is what caused most of our delay). My friend and father-in-law did all the work to get it installed and running and now we have nice cool air circulating nicely throughout the entire loft. It is very quiet and even the outside unit is much quieter than our main HVAC unit. Saved ourselves thousands getting this.

lol so you shut the unit down before closing the low side and now you've lost some Freon to the evaporation side.

I usually close the liquid line first then close the suction half way and run it with the contactor pushed in and when it hits zero I close the suction with it still running b/c won’t it migrate back out if you let the system turn off before you shut the suction?

Good video. How do I disconnect the lines. Do they screw into the machine or do I have to cut them? The appear to go into the wall. Our unit needs to be temporarily moved, then put back in the same spot. Also, how do I know which is the high vs. low side? Do I have to add anything back to the unit like refrigerant?

Yeah but you still have pressure on the gauge. So that gas is recoiliig back into the evap lines, maybe to a lesser degree but will escape if cutting the evap lines. Yes/ no ?

That is why you must ground equipment near high voltage power lines. This looks like a large load to the power grid. If it had been grounded the load would have been at a fault level and circuit would have tripped off. The ground wire used must be large enough to deal with that much power. To small and it would just burn away...
