Good information. I live in the Arizona desert, and it's very dry here most of the time, so hopefully, I will avoid most of the problems you have had. Seems water and moisture have been hard on your machine. Cheers!

Can you share information about the casting wheel with the Afreeca Twin
@soggybawsmoto9 күн бұрын
@유쭈니맘-t2m apologies, I replied to your question a few days, but YT must be hiding it because I included a link off platform. Wheels are Honda varadero, but heavily modified. If you search for varadero wheels on the Honda Africa Twin forum, you will find an explanation of how the job was done

My 1st bike was a 600 bandit which I loved. I then bought a 650 which was excellent as well but my mate had a 1250 which I yearned for. Another mate decided to sell his. 2007 with 19k miles. When he let me have it for £2.5k, I was more than happy. I've had it a year and absolutely love it. The only problem I have now is my hip is starting to play and I have problems using the rear brake and getting my foot down when I need to stop at road ends so I need to look at other options. I'll be sad to see it go.

@John-zb2kw21 күн бұрын
Thanks so very much for sharing your story. Question: Is there anything that you can suggest to help prevent this problem in the first place. I’m thinking like preventing the corrosion. Would you recommend spraying some ACF 50 or WD 40 into the ignition switch itself? Specifically spraying into the keyhole.
@soggybawsmoto21 күн бұрын
@John-zb2kw Thanks Jack, Spraying WD40/ACF50 down the keyhole is a double edge sword, as it will attract dirt and make your lock mechanism feel gritty. Unless perhaps you stuck to WD40, and used loads of it to flush it out fairly regular. If you hold a rag against the bottom/back of the lock, hopefully it would pool up and soak the connections that corroded loose. You will find folk that will tell you to put nothing but ground carbon (pencil lead) down the keyhole, but I've never been shy with a tin of WD40 👍

Great that you wanted one again, and it looks like a good one. One small thing … it’s not “hub centre steering”, but It’s essentially more like a car front wheel double wishbone set up, turned through 90°, with a single sided lower wishbone, so that the wheel can turn within it.

Great video! Thank you for your job. I understand that without special tools repair leaking forks is impossible
@soggybawsmotoАй бұрын
@fantomas077 Thanks Karol. I've seen a few work around to avoid the special tools, but they seemed a bit dodgy to me. You can use a heavy cable tie through the holes at the top of the sleeve to pull the sleeve and spring down I stead of the clamp I showed, but it would be difficult getting hold of the rod. I was lucky that a friend had the special tools for doing the Honda that I could borrow.

Just doing mine. Might be worth mentioning that you do not need to remove the compression damping adjusters to change the seals. Also if you are removing them, or torquing them up, may need to be done with the leg installed when pressure is placed on the damper by the spring. Otherwise the damper may just rotate and not undo/do up. Thanks to Haynes for this tip.

@soggybawsmotoАй бұрын
@greywolf9292 Yeh, Mike, not like when I was a youth, I rode on old Fife NCB railway lines, that are now policed bridleways that you can't get near with a bike. Can't believe folk are replanting hogweed, it spreads viciously and is horrible stuff to come into contact with.
@greywolf9292Ай бұрын
@@soggybawsmoto The person who wrote the comment about the Hogweed was disabled I think, making it even harder for them to access historical sites newly strewn with the stuff. If it's true those responsible should be banged to rights. It's certainly one way too keep folk out of the countryside, as well as reintroducing wolves and bears.
