Can a 78,000 mile 14 year old Suzuki Bandit GSF1250S still impress?

I’ve been interested in trying to do reviews of other people’s bikes for a while.
Who wouldn’t? Getting to ride a different bike every now and again. That’s my personal Nirvana!
There's a million reviews and reviewers out there, so I’ve been researching the genre trying to find a way to nail down a format I can call my own.
I wasn’t quite ready to dig the cameras out, however this Suzuki GSF1250S unexpectedly fell in my lap last weekend, when my little KTM 390 Adventure was having a sleepover at Saltire Motorcycles in Edinburgh. Fingers crossed this works!
I’ve always wanted to ride a Suzuki Bandit, but they say, never meet your hero’s. Will I still be impressed with it in 2023???
Hope you enjoy the video, if you do, please give it a wee thumbs up, and if you are a new visitor, you can help the channel grow by pressing the subscribe button.
Action cameras: GoPro Hero black 7, and 8 with media mod.
360 camera: Insta 360 one X2
Audio : Zoom F2 recorder
Drone: DJI Mini 3 Pro/RC Controller
Phone: Samsung S23
Editing software : Filmora 10
Done lots of research for this one! Snippets of footage harvested from KZbin channels by Greg Lesny, Krasmoto, Lupus Classics, Iconic Motorbikes, Moto Sprox, Brock’s Performance, Suzuki Global, Vasily Tsoy, Men & Motors, Team Valley MOT, Motordreams, Lasses Motorblok, 1872WATP (one for the Weegies), and Demonheart. Content transformed with my own narration to tell the story of the development of this cult model. Thanks to everyone listed for sharing their experience of their wonderful motorbikes.

I used to own a carbed Bandit 1200S and it impressed me every time I got on it. It occasionally scared the living shit out of me also. It's the true realization of 'hooligan' bike. The hardest part about riding it was keeping the front tire on the ground.

I've owned three 1st-Gen 1200's, (carbureted/oil-cooled), and still own one, ride it daily. I put 175,000 miles on my last one, (yes, I rebuilt it).. These machines are maybe the best UJM ever built- they do everything WELL, but you need to mod them carefully: exhaust, PROPER jetting, upgrade the suspension (stock is horrible).. get your ergos correct. Then, Superman jumps out of the phone-booth. I've had mine across the US (12,000 miles in 90 days one time) repeatedly, and I've had it on the Track, where it performs surprisingly well. I've lived/breathed/eaten these bikes for 15 years. know 'em inside and out.

It's a bike that could so easily have been my first big bike after passing my test, the reason it wasn't is because they were ten for a penny, as common as muck. I opted instead for its twin the GSX600F but it turned out to be a bike I just couldn't get on with. The rear shock seemed set too stiff and the full fairing acted like a sail in side winds. As a result it bounced round corners whilst getting blown sideways between gaps in the trees. There was no tool kit under the seat so I returned to the dealer to get it set up properly. Whilst there I tried the Triumph Thunderbird Sport, it rode like it was on rails and with no fairing let wind pass through rather than get pushed sideways. The GSX600F never left the garage, instead I rode home on the Triumph. Hence my recent purchase of an identical bike, so fond were my memories of it from the past.

@@soggybawsmoto It was more than a day, I bought the Suzuki before passing my test ( naughty, naughty 😂). I think it was the feeling of counter steer which irked me the most. I like to lean a bike and have it follow me but with the drop bars it felt like the bike wanted to go the opposite way round corners. It also would tip before I leant, felt like it was controlling me rather than the other way round. Add the rear end skipping to that equation and the side winds on country lanes. The Triumph on the other hand had wider flatter bars making changes of direction a breeze. A pal of mine was a motorcycle instructor riding a Yamaha 900 Diversion. I gave him a go of the Triumph, he came back grinning from ear to ear saying it was the most fun he'd ever had on two wheels.

Interesting review, but due to your accent I may have understood half of it haha

Our Scottish accent is very heavy, and we talk very fast. In my early films I tried to tone it down, but it sounded wooden, and lost all passion. I've come to realise that I'm attracted to the global Youtubing community that I watch, because of their quirks and unusual delivery, so I decided hang it, I'm just going to try to be natural and passionate. Maybe I should consider subtitles 😂 Thanks for watching and commenting anyway, Stevie.

If it weren't for the fact that I work with Scots and Irish people, I probably wouldn't understand anything. English is not my native language@@soggybawsmoto

I'm Scottish, but I speak English with a strong Scots accent. Perhaps I need to consider sub titles 🤣
