At this age, I would try and ignore the behavior. I would continue walking. It can be hard when they do a cute behavior.

It does take time but we enjoy it. We have to keep it in lose braids and re braid every week to every other week, depending on how the weather is. We use detangler and conditioner when we re braid and only wash it a few times a year, depending on the weather.
