Prada is a 4 month old Bernedoodle puppy. She just finished up our 8 week program. She knows her basic commands, heel, and is crate trained.

Hi you do such good work but I have to ask is that crate small for her ? I’m getting a mini in a few weeks and I’m not sure the size to get ? Any ideas will be appreciated. They said he will have a weight of 20-30 lbs
@rdspuppytrainingmore42562 жыл бұрын
While they are training we will use a smaller crate to help in the process. This will help prevent accidents from happening and bad habits from forming. When they are older we like to have a sizeable crate where they have plenty of room to be comfortable. For a 20-30 pounds dog I would get the 32'. You can get a wire crate with a divider off amazon so you can make is smaller when she is in training.

I have a 13 week bernedoodle who loves biting her leash. How can I get her away from this? I think it’s cute bec it looks as though she’s walking herself but nothing I have taught her

At this age, I would try and ignore the behavior. I would continue walking. It can be hard when they do a cute behavior.

Why such a small crate?
@rdspuppytrainingmore4256 Жыл бұрын
When a puppy is first learning how to be in a crate, it is important to form good habits from the start. If they are in a large crate, it can cause them to have accidents in the crate. Once they are old enough and fully crate trained, they can graduate to a larger crate.

Can you tell me what you are using for treats for her? Is Prada a mini berne or regular sized?
@rdspuppytrainingmore4256 Жыл бұрын
Prada is a standard size. We are using Zukes rabbit recipe. www.amazon.com/Pack-Naturals-Treats-Peanut-Butter/dp/B09MG5KWZ8/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?crid=MWMGDMO67ZAM&keywords=zukes+mini+naturals+training+treats&qid=1659417330&sprefix=zukes%2Caps%2C212&sr=8-1-spons&psc=1&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUEzUVJSTjEyNEpEQVBJJmVuY3J5cHRlZElkPUEwNTk4OTAxMkVSMUo1WlFGTVpEQSZlbmNyeXB0ZWRBZElkPUEwODg0OTIxMU01T1VDWDdLR0tMRyZ3aWRnZXROYW1lPXNwX2F0ZiZhY3Rpb249Y2xpY2tSZWRpcmVjdCZkb05vdExvZ0NsaWNrPXRydWU=

Crate is way too small. So cruel.

While this dog is well trained, please note that this says 4 month old bernedoodle. These are all normal basic commands that young bernedoodles start learning between 10-12 weeks. Don’t be discouraged by the person talking about the 8 week update. In general, this video does not do a good job of making it clear how old the dog is. With regards to starting the heel command, it’s really going to come down to when the dog is sort of comfortable with a leash and walking. I would not recommend this video for teaching it though. There are much better videos of teaching your dog to walking and eating out of your hand, which is the basis for teaching heel. If people that are watching this video are bernedoodle owners you are very fortunate. They are very smart because of their mixed breed. Especially if they are food motivated. If they are food motivated they can learn these basic commands in very little time.

I would never train a dog with treats period!! What happens when you do not have treats??? NOTHING.
@rdspuppytrainingmore42562 жыл бұрын
If you have a minuet, check out our video with Jesse. In the video we do not use treats yet she still happily responds and does exactly what I ask. Treats are a great way to get a puppy started in a positive way and can be phased out with practice and age. We always want to make sure that each experience with our puppies is a good one. If they are not treat motivated that is fine too!

my dogs trained with treats, when they were adults they did not need them, but worked for praise. Dobermans, Bullmastiffs and Eng. mastiff.

Is basic pavlonian condition. After repeated practice the dog will respond without the need of a treat.
