Shims for valve adjustment are very common. I would rather have a screw and locknut adjustment, but shims are better for high performance. www.revzilla.com/common-tread/why-do-bikes-use-shim-under-bucket-valve-adjusters#:~:text=Shim%2Dover%2Dbucket%20%E2%80%9Cadjusters,one%20of%20a%20different%20thickness.

When you get done with this operation and before you put the alternator cover back on take the front pulley cover off and put a larger pulley ( forget how many teeth )! It is much more fun with a 200 rear tire larger front pulley and smaller back pulley ( like anoth to end gear 5mph over the speedo reading )! Much more fun less RPMs ! I have a few thoosand miles on these mods !!! Oh yeah 2into 1 headers ,bigger air clearner and fuel managment! Much much more fun !

I had to rewatch this to what your were referring to. It's been awhile since I've watched this. I personally didn't run it dry. But yeah with a fuel pump it's not good to run it dry. I'm not sure how it affects the fuel injectors adversely. My previous bikes were carb so not as big of a deal. Glad I could help. Love seeing new comments pop up on these videos.

I know this is a old post but if anyone else is experiencing the same sound it’s definitely your belt tensioners. Which one? Just do both and while you’re at it do the belts and pulley’s. It will definitely fix the problem. I always thought the belts would screech if pulleys or tensioners were bad but I guess I was wrong. 🤷🏻‍♂️

None of those had any bearing on that sound. DISA was the first thing the dealer checked when they helped me with, the mechanic actually checked a few things and talked to me for awhile on the service lane and didn't charge me anything. He was stumped and he had been working on these cars since they were new and before this model. Turned out it was the tensioner for the belts.

Gracias
